crash the crush.
pairings : senior student!xiaojun x sophomore student!reader warnings : profanity, underage drinking, mentions of drugs genre : fluff, a bit of crack? highschool!au word count : 4.3k
summary : what are the odds of crashing into your crush during the neighborhood-friendly run and mutual friends party?
You were pissed off when your mum said you need to work your lazy ass off. Well, if it's on the summer break, you'll most likely agree with her. But it's only the weekend, and you've been studying your ass off these days. A lazy weekend is something you earned, but your mum decided to rain on your lazy parade.
With all those groans and deep sighs, you storm off your house wearing your workout gear. Not much, only a windbreaker jacket paired with shorts and running shoes. Popping your airpods on both of your ears to blast some jams, you take some light jogging steps on your neighborhood. It's only 4.30 pm, and kinda windy, why the fuck are you doing this? That's right, because mum literally compared you to your neighbor's daughter, Giselle, who recently won a karate tournament. Now mum won't even shut up how much she wants an active daughter, not the lazy one. Yikes.
Back to the streets by Saweetie & Jhene Aiko plays, and you hear a message notification on your airpods. Still on your light jogs, you glance at the notification.
yeri<3 : yo yeri<3 : wyd
You stop jogging for a while to write your bestfriend back. It's saturday, she's probably asking you to hangout along with the gang. Yeri gets easily bored at home and in constant need of hanging out.
y/n : running 💃 💃 💃 y/n : mum said i need to be giselle
You continue your pace while waiting for her reply. You can see your neighborhood clearly now, seeing the details, since you always go to school in a sleepy state, not really noticing the environment, and also going home from school mostly sleeping in your brother's car.
The notification rings again. It must be Yeri.
yeri<3 : bitch thats a dancing emoji yeri<3 : running in a weather like this? yeri<3 : damn straight u wanna be giselle
You chuckle as you’re about to type the messages once more, the weather is fine, what the hell is she talking about? But then Yeri is still typing.
yeri<3 : n e ways yeri<3 : party at lucas' 8pm yeri<3 : be there or be fucking square 💀 💀 💀
You sigh. There she goes. No other option than tag along with her, but it's not like you hate it anyway. Lucas' party is always awesome, you and your friends also will get a VIP pass because he's a good friend of yours too, despite the fact that you're not even in the same grade as him, he's one year above you and Yeri.
y/n : weather is nice dont jinx it y/n : fine but pick me up y/n : cuz doyoung won't let me drive his car
You send the messages to Yeri to prove her the weather is fine, and indicates that you agree to go to Lucas' house tonight, it's a great night to probably get wasted after all those tiring run mum decided to toss on you. It's gonna be fun, anyways. But the thing about hanging out with Lucas and his senior friends.. You might've developed a big fat crush with one of Lucas' closest friends, Xiaojun.
You barely had an interaction with him, though, because he's usually the quiet and calm one in Lucas' closest friends group. Lucas himself is already so fucking loud, not to mention Hendery, the good-looking clown and moodmaker. There's also Jungwoo, the one who looks very calm but actually won't shut up once you talk to him. Mark too, the giggly one with some lame jokes. Well, going to Lucas' party tonight means you can see Xiaojun, probably getting the chances that you'll have some interaction over some boozes or something is also quite high.
After feeling all warmed up, you decide to give yourself a run around the block. Yeri's right, it's a funny weather to run. It's windy, but the more you stay outside, the cloud is getting darker and darker. You also knew that you're not really alone, who's doing this athletic bullshit in this kind of weather, you noticed that a boy is also doing this silly run when you were typing messages to Yeri. Probably just another neighbor's child being scolded by his mum of how Giselle is so athletic that his mum also wants an active son? Welp, you didn't see his face anyway, you were glued to the phone when you saw the figure running from the side.
It's not even a minute after you started running, Yeri already replied again. Is she really that bored that she doesn't have anything to do?
yeri<3 : ok i'll pick u up at 7 yeri<3 : um.. its fucking raining, y/n yeri<3 : go home and take a shower yeri<3 : pick ur clothes and put on some makeup instead yeri<3 : its saturday night, activate your hoe protocol yeri<3 : mr xiaojun is going to be there tonight
You stop running and stare at her messages. Raining? Is she drunk or what? It's not even 5pm yet and here she is, hallucinating-
Oop. There it goes. You feel some water drops on your head. Your hand. It was slow at first, but then the raindrops are getting harder and harder, it's pouring.
"Motherfu-" you let out a curse, you should've trusted Yeri on this. As an intuitive homo sapiens with XX chromosomes, you scan through the streets, looking for some shelter to wait the rain to stop. Spotting a bus stop with a large steel canopy, you run like your life depended on it, avoiding the rain.
Finally arriving, you sigh and sit on the installed chair, typing messages to Yeri.
y/n : omg bitch ur right its raining y/n : should've pretended im dead in my room so mum wont bug me y/n : u know what after the rain ends im gonna sprint back home and take a fucking shower y/n : the universe doesnt like it when im trying to be giselle, it gave me rain instead
You sigh as you shuffle through your playlist, looking for some fun jams to pass your time through the rain, when somebody suddenly approaches you.
"Hi, do you mind if I take a seat here?" a boy asks, pointing to the chair next to you. You look up, and suddenly the next thing you wanna do is ascend your soul the fuck out of your body to the sky.
Oh boy. It's Xiaojun. The boy you won't shut up about. He’s wearing a white loose tank and grey sweatpants, drenched in his own sweat. Oh god. This is truly an attack for you. What the fuck is he doing here? And why must you meet him at your mess like being all salty because of those running fiasco and the rain? While wearing your not-so-fashionable workout gear and not-so-tidy ponytails? Oh god.
You can feel your heart is about to explode when you realize that he is actually the person who is also doing the stupid running at this very weather, you just didn't notice it sooner because you were on your damn phone. Damn, mum was right, everything happened because you were always on your damn phone.
"No, of course! Take a seat!" you answer him, trying your best to crack your sweetest smile although it's more like sweatiest not sweetest.
He smiles back at you, taking a seat next to you, then his eyes get back to his phone, completely glued. Damn this is the only cardio that is worth it, no running, no jumping, no huff that huff this, only sitting next to Xiaojun on a rainy day on a bus stop. Wonderful.
You quickly whip up the messaging app to type all kinds of gibberish and send it to Yeri. She knows what shit is about to go down when you speak gibberish to her.
y/n : FUCKJSHSJJSKSJK YERI y/n : OH MY FUCKING GOD SJSGSJSHSKJSK
Lucky you, Yeri has nothing to do than respond to your messages, she stays put on the chat room.
yeri<3 : OMG BITCH WHAT yeri<3 : SKSHSJJSKS YOU SCARED ME
y/n : HE's FUCKING HERE AHSJSHSJEK
yeri<3 : OMG WHOS HE?? yeri<3 : THE DEVIL??? IS HE GONNA TAKE UR SOUL? SKEJSJKSKSK
y/n : XIAOJUN y/n : TURNS OUT HE ALSO LIVES IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD
yeri<3 : ASKJSJSKSK WHAT yeri<3 : HOW
y/n : KAHSKSJKS omg bitch y/n : i was sheltering myself from the goddamn rain y/n : im in bus stop rn y/n : this angel came to accompany me y/n : HE WAS RUNNING TOO OMG y/n : omg yeri just so u know if im not there when u pick me up y/n : its bc im in church getting married with my man xiaojun
yeri<3 : BITCH OMG SKSKSKSKK yeri<3 : GET MARRIED RN yeri<3 : WAIT dont waste the chance yeri<3 : talk to him rn!!!
You swear you're about to scream when Yeri sends that. She was actually right, this is your chance to talk to him, considering that you didn't really interact that much with him. But really? He didn't even say a word when he sat, probably didn't even remember your name? The disappointment slowly gets into your head.
You freeze on the spot. torn between wanting to talk to him and just let it slide, you'll see him again tonight as Lucas' house, right?
Just when you decide to give up and not say a word, he turns his head to you.
"Hey, I didn't know you live in this neighborhood too," he starts.
Oh god. If every time your heart beats fast you get a dollar, you'd probably have your own private island by now.
You try to play it cool when actually on the inside you wanna scream I LIKE YOU to his face rn. "Oh? Oh yes, my house is number 13." you answer calmly,
He cracks a smile, “13? You’re Doyoung’s little sister?”
Oh god. What the fuck is this clownery? He knows Doyoung? Why and how? At this rate you just wanna evaporate to the rain, what if Doyoung actually knows that you liked Xiaojun and he spills it? Oh god.
You smile back at him, holding the panic you’ve been keeping since he mentioned Doyoung’s name. “Yep. I’m his sister.”
“Oh god, why didn’t I notice that earlier? I could’ve taken care of you at school!” he exclaims, and you sure you just wanna evaporate to the rain. Him? Taking care of you at school? YES PLEASE!
You let out a small giggle, trying to be as calm as possible when in reality you’re very sure you just wanna melt like a goddamn popsicle on a hot summer day. “So, how do you know my brother, actually?”
He laughs a bit, wiping away the sweat on his forehead. Oh god, he’s just so beautiful. “Well.. Doyoung and I used to be a dynamic duo in the school's choir, until he graduated.”
Oh, that. Doyoung is pretty serious about his career in the school’s choir, but you did not expect that Xiaojun is actually a part of it. Of course, he has the face of an angel, the voice is included.
“Now I know why Doyoung never let me come to his house. Turns out he has a cute- I mean, h-he has a sister, and that’s you! M-Maybe he’s afraid I’ll bother you or s-something.” he continues, stuttering a bit, and letting out an awkward laugh. You laugh again, feeling the blood rushing to your cheeks that you can’t hide no more. DID HE JUST SAY DOYOUNG HAS A CUTE SISTER? DID HE JUST SAY YOU’RE CUTE? DID HE-
But then, good things always come to an end. The goddamn rain stops. Oh fuck, no more chitter chatter with the dear crush. Just when it is the fucking time you need to hear the goddamn wedding bells, the rain decided to stop on your rain parade. Fuck.
He looks up, and seems like noticing the rain has stopped. “Well, Y/n. Lucas is having a party tonight, are you coming?”
You can feel your cheeks are still heating from his words, you shyly nod to him. Welp, maybe the rain has stopped, but this stupid crush? No. It goes on. Very much.
He stands up, straightening his white loose tank, getting ready to probably sprint back home. “Okay. See you tonight then, I’m going home. Have a good run!” he says as he walks away from the bus stop, leaving you dumbfounded. And lovestruck. That’s a win, alright.
Xiaojun slowly fades away from your view, and you’re still drowning on your pool of love. Yep, that’s it. You can’t even hold it, you quickly dial Yeri’s number to break out the news.
“What is it, Y/n? You literally left me on read for like 14 minutes straight and now you-”
“YERI LISTEN I’M GETTING MARRIED TONIGHT AND THAT’S A FUCKING FACT!” you shout to the phone, you can picture Yeri is probably goggling out her eyes right now.
“Girl, just because Xiaojun just asked you why the fuck were you running at times like this it doesn’t mean-”
“HE CALLED ME CUTE!” you blurted out, cutting her sentences for the second time,
“-you’re getting married- WHAT?? HE CALLED YOU WHAT?” Yeri yelled from the phone, now it’s pretty clear that Yeri is probably jumping her ass off right now.
You sprint your way to home, while holding your phone to your ears, continuing to give Yeri the details about the bus stop conversation you had earlier. Now she’s just yelling at you to pick the right dress and pamper yourself up, the probability you’ll marry Xiaojun at Lucas’ party is increasing. Sure it does.
-------
It’s 11.28 PM, 3 hours and a half since you and Yeri just arrived at Lucas’ house, escaping from Doyoung’s warning to you, to get back in one piece, and most importantly, sober. As if you’re gonna leave Lucas’ house sober, that’s funny, alright. You and Yeri were greeted by Yangyang and Donghyuck, who are currently setting up the table for snacks and drinks. That was probably the first time you saw Donghyuck ever setting up something, because if not, Jungwoo would’ve set his ass on fire.
The party madness has started, seems like everybody already has enough alcohol running on their system. Lucas is already losing his shirt and starts twerking in the middle of his house along with Jaemin and Jungwoo. Ah yes, the thot trio already started their thing, and all you have to do is just stay back and avoid getting dragged to the dance mess, because the chance of Jungwoo and Jaemin will start grinding at you is kinda high right now.. Considering their.. Twerking fiasco.
You sit back on the couch and watch your friends getting crazy over the playlist Yangyang made just for this event, sipping on your cocktails that Donghyuck put god-knows-what in it, he said it’s just cherry juice mixed with gin and brandy, but somehow it tastes kinda citrusy. You glance to the right, only to see Yeri making out with some random guy (probably one of Lucas’ friends named Changbin but oh well, that’s Yeri’s business).
Slightly grossed out and sad because apparently you’re not making out with Xiaojun right now, you make your way to the patio, and find the crowd that circle around a spinning bottle. Interested, you join Jeno, Mark, Renjun, Yeji, Hyunjin, Sungchan, Karina, Vernon, Hendery, and of course, the (hottest) most important person right now, Xiaojun.
“Welcome! As a newly joined member.. Truth or dare?” Jeno greets you as you take a seat between Mark and Sungchan. Well, you’d love to sit beside Xiaojun, but apparently, that seat is already taken by Hendery and Vernon.
You silently glance at Xiaojun, who is wearing a denim jacket with light-yellow knit top underneath, paired with white trousers. Damn, he looks so damn good that you wanna cry a river.
Your head comes back to the question Jeno asked. Today’s your day, be bold or bald. It’s time. “Well, I’m not gonna put my drunk antics to waste. Dare then.” you answer boldly, earning a few ‘ooooh’s from your friends.
Jeno snickers. Well, fuck. Guess you’re a bit too damn bold tonight, the realization suddenly hits you like a fucking trainwreck, Jeno is kinda extreme for games like this. Wrong choice, y/n. You gulp as you wait for Jeno to come up with something.
“I dare you to kiss Xiaojun!” Jeno exclaims, clapping both of his hands like a goddamn happy seal. Mark and Hendery are high-fiving right now, throwing whistles around Xiaojun, who is silent as a fucking rock.
Oh god. Things you’ve said about not putting your drunk antics to waste should’ve stayed in that goddamn draft. This is where Jeno takes you, even though you’re secretly happy that you finally get to kiss your goddamn crush, that shit is EMBARRASSING. If you wanna evaporate to the waters, then it’s probably the right time to do it.
But why Xiaojun though? Is your big fat crush on him too obvious?
You freeze on the spot as you awkwardly smile and stare at Jeno. This shit can’t be real. Jeno is goddamn crazy. You can feel the air is getting hot, whether it’s because the alcohol starts kicking in, or just because the blood is rushing through your head.
“Scared, aren’t you?” Jeno taunts you, sipping his beer as the rest of the group laugh except you and Xiaojun, who is currently staring at you with a questionable expression. Is he pleased? Or is he pissed? Oh god.
“I-I’m not!” you answer him, leaning to Xiaojun, gulping once more before asking him, “You’re okay with this though?”
Xiaojun smirks, “How can I say no to you?” he asks back, accompanied by a few ‘ayyy~’ from the boys, sending butterflies to your stomach. Your face is probably as red as a tomato by now.
Good god. Is this the same Xiaojun who is quiet, calm, and collected among his friends? Why suddenly he is so bold? Oh, he’s probably just drunk and won’t remember this kiss anyway.. You lean closer to him, closing the gap between his face and yours by sealing the kiss. His lips are soft yet firm, almost like a grape jelly you had earlier this afternoon, with a hint of vodka, of course.
After a few seconds, you finally pull out and linger your eyes on him. It’s beautiful, and mesmerizing. You just wish that you can see it again, and only for you, no one else. As you get back to your seat, you take one more last glance at him, that is currently also glancing at you, with his cheeks red.
Okay. You definitely heard the wedding bells, thanks Jeno. That’s probably one of your dreams, and thanks to Jeno, it came true. But unfortunately, Xiaojun probably won’t feel the same, or worse, he’ll probably forget about it tomorrow.
Everyone claps, exchanging happy exclaims and cheers as if you just said ‘I do’ to Xiaojun lol, when in reality, you were just doing the dare Jeno gave you. You gulp bitterly as the game goes on and on.
-----
It’s an hour past midnight, 1.12 AM to be exact. Thank god you’re not that shitfaced, but Yeri is. She is not even capable of doing anything anymore except being all smiley and shit, Changbin already drove her home like fifteen minutes ago, leaving you behind in Lucas’ lair. You suddenly felt the urge to thank god that Yeri made a fantastic decision last minute before picking you up, she used a taxi instead of driving. If she hadn’t, you’re probably stuck driving her home right now.
You scan through the house while leaning through the stair railings, looking for an easy target to get a free ride. Finally spotted your friends, you now have 3 choices : Donghyuck (who is currently seducing some random girl), Yangyang (who is now playing mobile games with Jaemin and Chenle), or Mark (who recently just hit a goddamn blunt, but he’s very capable to drive).
You sip your glass of water, making up your mind for your ride home. But then, suddenly someone taps on your shoulder.
“Do you wanna go home? Like, right now? I can drive you- I mean, our house is like, near.” you hear Xiaojun speaking to you, holding his car keys on his left hand.
Good gracious, is this even real? Like, Xiaojun, is actually asking you to go home with him? Is this real? Or are you just hallucinating from the goddamn weed you take 10 minutes ago from Lucas?
You stare at him blankly. He bit his lip, “I mean- If you wanna stay longer- or probably-”
“Yes, of course! Let’s go.” you smile at him, cutting off his words.
3 times in a day. Good job, Y/n! The wedding is up ahead!
He smiles and gives you a gesture, “Ladies first.”
-
The drive is not as awkward as you thought. Turns out, Xiaojun is full of surprise though, you nearly choked when he said he once formally apologized to Doyoung before he stood up to defend the dignity of Mint Chocolate Chip flavored ice cream. It’s delightful to find out that he has similar tastes as you, from ice cream flavor to music and school subjects.
Xiaojun also told you the reason why he was on the run earlier, he was bored. Damn, look at it, the difference between a forced daughter whose mum wants an active child, and a bored model-student. He said he didn’t expect to see you because he was embarrassed, he was drenched in sweat.
You can feel the butterflies on your stomach grow wilder and wilder from every word he said, or maybe it’s just the way he smiles when he talks to you? Welp, if it’s anything to do with Xiaojun, you’ll most likely get butterflies.
Just when you thought he was drunk, he is not. He’s capable of driving you home and carrying on some fun convos, also remembering little things. So.. perhaps, he is not going to forget the kiss you shared because of Jeno’s dare?
As you keep on exchanging conversation with him, suddenly it’s time to get off his car and get back to your house, get ready to deal with Doyoung’s nags and scolds for getting home this late.
You giggle as you take the seat belt off, smiling at the brown haired boy.
“Thank you for driving me home, Xiaojun. It was fun.” you say to him, waving him goodbye as you open the door. He smiles and waves back at you.
Just when you’re about to open the gate of your house, you hear the sound of slamming car doors. You turn around and see Xiaojun standing in front of you, eyes sparkling like a goddamn star. Unfortunately, it’s not Christmas.. If it is, all you want for Christmas is to stare at Xiaojun’s beautiful eyes all day, and probably get married to him.
“Um.. Y/n.. I don’t know how to say this but.. The kiss you gave me earlier, it’s kinda..” he starts, smiling sheepishly.
Oh god, what now? It’s kinda what? Gross? You swear you’ll kill Jeno if you hear that from Xiaojun.
You gaze at him as you wait for him to complete his sentences.
“It’s kinda.. Making me feel.. Things.” he finally continues, rubbing the back of his neck while looking away from you, flustered. It’s pretty cute.
You giggle at him a little, the butterflies come back, or maybe they never even left?
“Don’t laugh, Y/n. I’m being honest, I was pretty embarrassed to run into you during sheltering, and now you’re laughing at me for-”
You let out a big laugh before you pull him to another kiss. This one is a bit longer, more passionate and intimate, unlike the one you had before. He cups your cheek as you feel him smiling during the kiss.
“I’m sorry if I invaded your privacy- but your fast typing was very.. Intriguing.. I might’ve seen you texting Yeri at the bus stop.” he giggles after you pull out from the kiss.
Yikes. You feel like you’re about to burst now. He saw you texting Yeri? What kind of clownery is this? Did he see you typing- oh god, that’s too embarrassing to remember.
“No! That’s too embarrassing!” you cover your face, he laughs once more.
“Now, which church are we going to? I’m pretty sure you said we’re getting married tonight, right?” he takes your hands off your face, grinning widely.
You pout and lightly hit him, only to be attacked by his hugs a second later. Aww, finally, dreams do come true. You stay on his embrace for a few more minutes, no talking, just comfortable silence and realization that you’re on Xiaojun’s arms right now.
You glance at your watch, Doyoung would be furious by now. Telling him that you really have to go before Doyoung can rise from his sleep and beat your ass, you finally wave goodbye to him as he gets back to his car.
Finally entering the house, you’re greeted by Doyoung who’s standing in front of you, holding a bowl of salad on his right hand.
“So, kissing Xiaojun in front of my salad?” he raises his eyebrow.
You stick out your tongue as you make your way upstairs. Technically, not in front of Doyoung’s salad, because the door was closed. He’s probably looking through the window, such a nosy brother. You laugh at the thought of Doyoung getting furious while eating his salad as you get a message.
Xiaojun : so, see you at school? Xiaojun : can’t wait to hold your hand on monday ;)

You're a good girl, well behaved.
Absolutely not the type to rail random guys in nightclubs.
Until you are.
Fandom: BNHA
Pairing: Aizawa x Reader, eventual polyamorous Erasermic x Reader
Rating: Mostly gen, this chapter is pretty tame. Reader gets pretty horny towards the end but nothing below the belt actually occurs
Trigger Warnings: None in this chapter.

Chapter: 5/16 (all chapters)
You didn’t get any sleep that night.
As a result of your visits to the police station, hospital and briefing at UA, you didn’t get around to checking your phone until 8PM, only to find it had exploded with missed calls, text messages and voicemails. You had missed well over 200 messages in the group chat you shared with your friends and 32 çalls from your mother.
They all knew you worked at UA and by now the attack was all over the news.
You gave up on catching up on everything you had missed after the first five minutes, choosing instead to send a copy pasted message to everyone in your notifications.
Hello, there was an incident at UA today. I’m fine. We’re all fine. Thank you for your concern.
Responding was a mistake, for even more messages flooded through the moment you hit send.
Everyone wanted to know the gory details. Cousins you hadn’t talked to in years suddenly had more than a passing interest in your affairs.
And then there was the message that made you drop your phone; a single sentence buried between notifications.
It was from your ex.
You had parted on relatively good terms, considering, though hadn’t talked since he picked up his things from your house. You had told yourself it was for the best, even if it shattered your heart to pieces.
It was strange to hear from him now and he seemed to know it, for his words were no more intimate or friendly than those of your distant cousins. It was as if you’d never been lovers, yet memories flooded back.
You remembered eating lunch together at your kitchen table; remembered wearing his sweater on nights he wasn’t home and burying your nose in the collar. You remembered picking out dresses for date nights and taking his hand on the train ride home.
It had been a long, emotional day and you didn’t trust yourself to reply. Instead you got up to make a late dinner, stealing glances at your phone out of the corner of your eye. You couldn’t help but wonder how today might have gone if you were still together. Would he have picked you up from the police station? Maybe he would have taken you for gelato.
You picked up your phone as you waited for your food to cook, opening and closing his message. You gave up in the end, copy and pasting the same response you had given everyone else, but with one minor change.
Hello, there was an incident at UA today. I’m fine. We’re all fine. Thank you for your concern.
How are you?
He replied within the next five minutes, detailing the brand new business partnership he had achieved with one of the major hero agencies in Roppongi. He’d been chasing such a partnership for many of the years you had known him and it was difficult to stop yourself swelling with pride. He wasn’t your boyfriend now, after all.
He was just as curious about your new job at UA, though mostly seemed confused. You had been in your previous job for years with no desire to move, after all. You kept quiet about the fact that if he hadn’t broken your heart you would probably still be there.
After an hour or so of back and forth, he finally sent the message you had been dreading.
We should go for dinner some time.
You cast aside your phone and poured yourself a much needed glass of wine. You didn’t trust yourself to see him in person. It took everything you had not to call him there and then so you could hear his voice.
Your reply was as polite as it was cagey, apologising for your busy schedule under the current circumstances. It was at least partly true, and he seemed understanding enough. Everyone in the country knew about UA’s upcoming sports festival, after all.
Little did you know you’d be seeing him far sooner than expected.
━
UA was closed the next day for repairs and staff meetings. All UA staff were present, with one notable exception. Shouta was still in the hospital and expected to rest up for the rest of the week.
The attack on the USJ might have been foiled, but the implications of it were massive, especially with the sports festival on the horizon. You expected the games to be postponed for the immediate future, but you couldn’t be further from the truth. If anything, the attack made Nezu even more determined to make this year’s games the biggest yet.
You understood his decision, even if you didn’t completely agree with it. The sports festival was critical to the future prospects of all UA students, many of whom (such as the third year pupils) would not get another opportunity to show off their skills in such a public manner. You only hoped that it wasn’t a mistake.
Your own contributions to the meetings were small in the grand scheme of things and you were finished up for the day by 1:30 in the afternoon. You considered picking up groceries on the way home, only to get off the train at the nearest platform to the hospital.
By now Shouta must have come around from his anaesthesia and you decided to call in and visit to find out if he needed anything, like spare clothes or someone to help out with his household chores during his recovery. You had heard Hizashi and Nemuri make comments about his love for cats and seen cat hair on his clothes on certain occasions. If he had pets, you were only too happy to babysit them while he was away.
Unfortunately, your plans were quashed almost immediately.
“What do you mean he discharged himself?”
━
You thought about Shouta as you took the train, as you packed up your groceries and slipped through your front door. He had been terribly beaten up the last time you’d seen him, so much so that even his doctors had recommended he rest for the week. Why would he leave after less than 24 hours? Why would he overstrain himself in such a way?
You thought about him as you made lunch and the final adjustments to your schedule. He was a grown man, you told yourself. He was perfectly capable of making his own choices and taking care of himself.
Even so, you couldn’t stop thinking about his two injured arms. How was he going to cook? How was he going to clean? Surely he didn’t mean to continue underground work with damage to his skull?
You lasted until 5PM before giving up and texting Hizashi.
Can you call me when you’re free?
He called you only seconds later.
“How can I help you, sweet listener?”
“It’s Shouta,” you said. “I called by at the hospital and...well...he’s discharged himself.”
“He what ?!”
“I know,” you said. “I’m really worried.”
“That’s so typical of him,” Hizashi sighed, “what is he thinking?”
“I was thinking I might stop by his place to check on him,” you said. “Do you know where he lives?”
He went quiet for a couple of seconds, clearly thinking about it.
“You know, (Name), it’s not the kind of neighbourhood for a lady…”
“I’ll text you when I get there?”
“Hmmm…”
You could practically see him leaning back in his chair and scratching his chin.
“Fine,” he said at last. “I’ll text you the details.”
“Thank you!”
“You’ve gotta text me though.”
“I will!”
“And, by the way…”
“Mhmmm?”
“How long have you been calling him Shouta?”
You flushed a bright red, feeling as if you’d been caught with your pants down.
Of all of the teachers, Shouta was the only one who hadn’t openly given you permission to call him by his first name in informal situations. You referred to him as Aizawa while around other people and even on the rare occasions you were alone. You had reset, even if he would always be Shouta in your mind.
“I…I...I’ll speak to you later, haha, bye!”
You couldn’t hang up fast enough. You were convinced the intonation of your voice would betray the truth.
You buried your head in your hands, as if to hide your face from your phone.
Well, shit.
━
Hizashi hadn’t been exaggerating when he said Shouta lived in a shady area. Many of the buildings had boarded over their windows and just about every exposed area of brick had several layers of graffiti, most of which were obscene.
You felt eyes on the back of your neck as you pressed the buzzer for Shouta’s apartment, though soon identified the source as a grey cat sprawled across the wall, watching you with steady amber eyes.
“Hello,” you said, leaning over, “are you the gatekeeper?”
The cat yawned and stretched out a paw.
“Oh, I see, I see,” you said, tapping a fingertip against its paw by way of a handshake. “Well you’re doing a very good job.”
“What are you doing here?”
That voice sounded incredibly familiar and you glanced up towards the balcony above you. Shouta was peering over it, still bandaged up and both of his arms in casts. You couldn’t see his face but you knew he was scowling.
“I came to check in on you,” you called up. “The hospital said you’d discharged yourself, and-“
He turned on the spot.
“As you can see, I’m okay. You can go home now.”
“But…”
You had packed an insulated bag full of food before leaving home and glanced from that to the gate. Were you going to have to carry it back on the train? You’d already packed a big lunch for the next day, ahead of seeing 1-A through counselling. Just what were you going to do with all of this extra food?
Shouta peered back over the balcony and sighed.
“Fine,” he said. “But make sure you hold the door open for Sushi.”
“Sushi?” you wondered aloud as the buzzer sounded and you let yourself through the gate. “Who’s Sushi?”
As if in response, the cat hopped down from its position on the wall and wandered up the path as if it had done so a thousand times. It stopped at the front door to the building and turned back to you expectantly, waiting for you to open the door.
You followed the cat into the building and up the stairs. The cat, Sushi you supposed, would rush off ahead of you and then wait for you to catch up. It barreled up the stairwell and then sat at the top before climbing the next. You knew which apartment belonged to Shouta even without checking over Mic’s message, for the cat sat down outside of it and looked back at you.
“Thank you, gatekeeper,” you said, tapping at the door.
“It’s open,” Shouta called out from within and you reached for the handle, Sushi the cat squeezing through the gap the moment you opened it even slightly.
You didn’t know what you expected from Shouta’s home. You knew he spent very little time there and that much was clear the moment you got inside. He had minimal furniture: a couch in one corner, along with a small table and even smaller television. There were no photographs on the walls; no blankets or decorations. Everything in his home had a clear function, as if designed to be left in a hurry. It was the opposite of your home in every possible sense.
“Make yourself comfy, I guess,” he said.
“I don’t know when exactly you checked out of the hospital,” you said, “but I thought you might be hungry. I made a few things…”
You walked over to the table and unzipped your bag.
“I wasn’t sure what kinds of food you liked, so I brought a bit of everything,” you said, pulling out each container. “There’s some soup, some rice, meatballs, an omelette…”
Retrospectively, you had rather overdone it.
“Some of these can be frozen or reheated,” you said. “You don’t have to eat all of them at once.”
He glanced from you to your food containers, which by then had taken up almost all of his table.
“You didn’t have to do all of this.”
“Oh, it’s no bother. We’re colleagues, remember!”
“Yeah,” he said. “I-”
He didn’t get to say anymore, though, for his stomach rumbled noisily.
“Shouta,” you said. “When did you last eat?”
“I...hmm...I had a small meal at the hospital before I-”
“You... wh-?! That was hours ago! You need proteins and vitamins to heal.”
“It’s fine. I’ve had worse.”
It wasn’t fine. Not by any means.
You simmered as you plated up a few of the containers and refrigerated the rest. You couldn’t believe how little one person could care for their own body and pretended you didn’t see the bottles of antiseptic, antibiotics and bandages on his shelf. How many wounds had he gotten without seeing a doctor? How many of his scars came from cuts he had tended himself?
“I don’t want to hear you complain about Midoriya breaking his bones ever again,” you muttered as Sushi rubbed against your legs, seeming not to notice the bowl of cat food only a short distance away.
Of course he’d remembered to feed the cat.
Of course.
“Yes, yes,” said Shouta, leaning back on the couch and pulling down some of his bandages to expose his mouth and chin.
You brought the food over to his table and proceeded to pack away your empty food containers, watching out of the corner of your eye as he leaned over to pick up the cutlery, only to flinch and drop it.
“Do you need some help?”
“Nope, I got it.”
“Are you sure?”
“Ye-fuck.”
The cutlery clattered to the table with a dull thud and you took a seat next to him, reaching for the cutlery and holding it out to him.
“Thank you,” he said, albeit reluctantly, balancing it in his fingers before dropping it again.
“Let me help you,” you said, grabbing the fork and scooping up some of the omelette. “Open wide.”
“Wh-no way,” he said, eyes darting from you to the fork. “I ain’t a toddler.”
“It’s not like I’m going to make aeroplane sounds. Let me help you.”
Shouta grumbled under his breath, but ate from the fork you raised to his lips.
“..cious,” he murmured as you gathered a second forkful.
“Hmm?”
“I said...if you tell anyone about this I’ll shave off your eyebrows.”
“Neglect yourself this much again and I’ll shave your entire head.”
A smile crept across your face; you couldn’t help it. This whole situation was more than a little absurd. Here was the underground hero, Eraserhead, known for his smooth takedowns of villains in Musutafu’s underbelly, struggling to hold onto a fork. You were little more than a girl he’d hooked up, yet there you were, nagging him as if you were married.
Shouta fell into contemplative silence as well.
“At the attack,” he said at last. “Did they hurt you?”
“What do you mean?”
You hadn’t been involved in the fighting, but perhaps he didn’t know that?
“At the hospital,” he said, “you had blood on your shirt.”
Your heart skipped a beat, remembering how you had kissed his forehead before you could stop yourself. You’d thought he was asleep. Had he been awake the whole time?
“No,” you said. “Nezu had me go to the police station. I used my quirk too much on the suspects too much, that’s all.”
“Ah. I see.”
“Were you… worried about me?”
“Of course not! It’s just that you’re useless in battle.”
“Oh my god, you were worried about me.”
“No I wasn’t,” he said, stubbornly. “Now give me some of the chicken.”
You scooped up some of it and lifted it to his lips but he didn’t move, even though he’d asked for it.
“Shou…” you began, only to fall silent as he leaned in.
You told yourself you should pull away, even as you met him in the middle and ran your tongue over his bottom lip. He leaned over towards you and crushed his lips against yours, kissing you so deeply that it sent a shiver through your core. You wanted his hands on you; wanted to ride him until both your throat and cunt were raw.
Oh no...
Before this, you had never known that kisses could feel like stormy seas. For the first time in your life, you wanted to drown.
You reached to cup the uninjured side of his face.
Two seconds more and you would break the reset. Three and you wouldn’t even regret it.
Sushi took the initiative, though, making use of the distraction to hop onto your lap and steal the chicken from your fork. You broke the kiss, both pulling away as if burned.
“I…” you said, “I’m sorry.”
What were you thinking? Shouta was injured and likely still had remnants of anesthesia in his body. Even if he didn’t, the attack on USJ would leave anyone shaken. You had gone there to help him out with chores, not take advantage of him while he was in a potentially vulnerable state.
“I should go,” you said, clearing your throat and rushing away to zip up your insulated bag.
“(Name),” he said. “I-”
“It’s okay,” you said. “It was my fault. I…”
You gave him the biggest, most artificial smile in your arsenal; the one you used at job interviews and dinner with your parents.
“I’ll see you at work!”
━
You thought about the kiss on the train ride home, as you washed your dirty food containers and took a bath. You sank down into the water, wishing you could wash away the fluttering in your core.
It was just arousal, you told yourself. Sex released chemicals, namely oxytocin, and it was natural for you to feel attached to him. Hell, you’d seen each other completely naked, which in itself was something profoundly intimate.
It would fade in time, as all things did.
You repeated it over and over as you dried yourself off and got into bed. Soon, very soon, you would forget how it felt when he’d touched you. Bodies replaced their cells every decade or so; one day your bodies would have never touched at all.
The exhaustion from the past few days caught up with you the moment your head touched the pillow and before long you were dreaming.
You dreamed of waking in the arms of your lover, who ran his fingers through your hair and kissed you on the forehead. The bed was comfortably warm and bathed in soft morning light; your lover’s arm heavy across your waist.
“(Name),” he whispered in your ear and you couldn’t stop yourself from smiling.
“(Name),” he whispered again and you looked up into his face, taking in his black hair and dark eyes. “Why are you crying?”
Your eyes snapped open then, dragging you back to your empty room.
There was no one else in your bed, you realised. It was the middle of the night, with no trace of the early morning glow you had so happily basked in.
The tears, though, they were real.

Chapter 1 - Moving So Fast
“(Y/n), nice to meet you!” A blonde, blue eye boy greeted you with the purest smile on his face. You bowed slightly and shook hands with him, respecting your trainer was the first step in making a good impression to your new coworkers and the higher ups. “My name is Armin, I’m the M.O.D. for the morning shifts. During your training you’ll meet Mikasa who is in charge during the afternoons and Ymir who covers the nights. Whenever you have a question, you can ask the three of us or our boss and the owner, Mr. Reiss.” You were five minutes into this new job and you already got the feeling your life was going to change from sluggish and boring to hectic and hilarious.
Mr. Reiss created everybody’s schedule for his coffee shop, ‘Reiss Coffee!’ and the three M.O.D.’s ran the coworkers and customers from that point. You were told he came to check up on everybody each day but not for too long since his managers were responsible and he learned quickly he can rely on them. You first shift was 9am-5pm which gave you a taste of training with each manager. Some of your coworkers you met already included Eren, Jean, Historia and Sasha. Learning all the drinks was challenging, you’ve just gotten use to the latte, cappuccino and macchiato by the time 5pm started rolling around. Your feet hurt like a bitch from these safety shoes you had to wear, a couple strands of hair were messy and your brain felt like puddy. Overall a successful first day.
“So, ya coming with us or not, new girl?” Ymir grinned at you after she finished an order for a customer. You gave her a questioning look while pulling off the light brown apron. “The party at Smith’s? Armin invited you this morning, remember?”
“Oh…I complete forgot about that,” you laughed nervously. In truth you were going to try to avoid it. You were living out of your 1996 Toyota Highlander and you didn’t have much to your name. You owned the car, but only had so many nice clothes for parties, some food sources stashed away and a couple various important items. How you got there was a story for another time.
“No ya didn’t,” Ymir glared lightly at you, causing you to sweat. You adverted your eyes to your apron and felt her golden orbs still watching you. “What’s the problem with a little fun?”
You rubbed your arm, a small nervous habit. “I don’t have anything to wear for a party. You know I just moved into town, I didn’t bring too much baggage with me…literally,” You laughed a bit. This got a hefty laugh from Ymir.
“Don’t worry about attire girl,” she waved off your weak comment and handed you a small card with an address. “Wear something comfortable, even jeans and a decent shirt are fine, everybody’s going to be some level of drunk anyways! Some clothes might go missing, who knows!” She patted your shoulder, it was oddly comforting. “Come to this address at 7pm, if you want to come when the balls already rolling, arrive at 8pm. If I don’t see you by 9pm, I’ll drag you by the ear!” You both laughed. Her threat was meaningful, she would actually find you and drag you to the party, but not in a painful way.
“I guess…thanks Ymir!” You grinned, headed out to your car in search of a decent outfit.
----------
You had arrived at the Smith residence at 7:30pm, the feeling of arriving at 7pm was too sharp and 8pm felt too late. It was a small house in a nice neighborhood, each property having at least 1 acre or more of yard, you estimated the Smiths’ had 1.5 or 2. You knocked on the door, brushing off you button up a bit. You wore high-waist, dark wash blue jeans and a vertical stripe black and white button up that was tucked in, with some simple sandals on your feet. The door opened a moment later and you were face to face with a gorgeous blonde. He had sky blue eyes, blonde hair with a dirty blonde undercut, chiseled chin and cheekbones and bushy eyebrows. The moment he smiled at you, you could swear your heart stopped beating like pulling the plug from an electrical socket.
“Welcome, come in!” He stepped to the side and motioned you inside, you quickly stepping forward. Immediately you noticed how loud it was- music, talking, yelling, dancing, the smell of alcohol and chips, cooked chicken too. Your eyes caught a glance at Armin with Mikasa and Eren amongst the group. But you didn’t have too much time in your own head when you felt a large hand on your back and your breath hitched as a reaction. “My name is Erwin Smith. You must be the girl Armin was speaking so highly of.”
Your cheeks flushed a little bit, “I guess,” you chuckled nervously. “My name’s (y/n) (l/n). It’s a pleasure to meet you.” You both outstretched your hands to shake, you could feel how tough his skin was yet his palm so soft. When he spoke, you could trace a bit of scotch scent, but nothing too strong.
“The pleasures mine,” he hummed. “Please make yourself comfortable. The kitchen is to the right and the bathroom is right here next at the entrance. The linen closet is down the hall first door on the left if you’d like a place for your bag.” He was so kind and his voice was so deep, it was almost hypnotic. You replied with a small thank you as Armin came up to join your conversation, he looked thrilled that you came.
Through the course of the night, you noticed a raven haired male making strides around the groups of people with a drink in his hands constantly. He had an undercut which accented his strong jawline, his side profile was definitely a nice view, his grey-silver eyes shined bright. The way he spoke with everybody and walked through the party felt like he owned the place. A redhead kept popping up by his side too, wrapping her hand around his or around his waist, a couple times squeezing his butt which you adverted your eyes too. Him and the blonde host weren’t the only attractive ones here, but so much chatter and dancing blurred your memories of most of their names.
----------
Levi banged on Erwin’s room door, disturbing him from his peaceful slumber. When the blonde sat up, he noticed Levi had ever so kindly let himself into his bedroom. It was around 10am on Sunday, neither had work. “What’s the problem Levi?”
“Erwin, there’s a brat sleeping in my bathroom,” the raven hissed, obviously not pleased over the situation, and Erwin bet he was suffering a bit of a hangover too.
“A brat?” he chuckled, rubbing his puffy eyes and pushed his hair back. “Everybody left once the party was over, who could be left?” he groaned while pulling himself out of the warmth of the comforter. They made their way down the hall and into Levi’s bathroom. Curled up in a ball on the shower floor, they found you. Erwin couldn’t help but chuckle again. “I wouldn’t have believed you if I didn’t see it for myself.”
“Do you know who she is?”
“If I recall,” he muttered while rubbing his forehead, his own hangover hurting pretty badly, “that’s (y/n), a coworker of Armin’s at the Reiss Coffee shop.”
“What is she doing in my bathroom?” Levi grimaced.
“Your guess is as good as mine. Let’s see…” Erwin squatted down and set a hand on your shoulder, gently shaking you while calling your name.
You groaned while trying to shove his hand away, failing at the attempt before clutching your head. It felt like you were spinning but the hand holding your shoulder was the only solidarity that you really weren’t. You cracked open your eyes, the light already probing more pain. It took a full minute until you realized there was a man in front of you. Why was there a man in your car?--…oh. You’re not in your car. You flew into a sitting position while holding your head with one hand and your other hand extended towards him as a separation barrier. Your heart beat was a little fast but you tried to catch up with your situation and your surroundings.
“Wh-what are you doing?!” you yelped.
“You’re in my roommate’s bathroom (y/n),” Erwin chuckled. Your cheeks flushed and your arms and legs moved fast to cover yourself as a reflex, but you checked yourself and was thankful you still had all your clothes on, albeit a bit messy. Levi scoffed at your reaction and glanced away for a moment. “We should be asking you what you’re doing here.” Erwin continued.
“Um…” your body relaxed a bit, rubbing your head trying to remember. “I’m…not entirely sure. I thought I had at least made it back to my car.”
“If you were so drunk you can barely remember anything from yesterday, somebody sensible probably stopped her from driving away,” Levi remarked, a small glare settled on his face. It made you cower a bit from its intimidation.
“Then I believe there’s not much point to figuring out exactly how she’s in your bathroom,” Erwin concurred before standing straight up, offering you a helping hand. “Come, you can join us for breakfast if you wish. But at least take some medicine and water before you depart.” You nodded ever so slightly and took his hand, he pulled you up like a feather off the floor, and motioned you to follow him to the kitchen. Levi kept his eyes on you as you left, but his glare didn’t feel too harsh.
Erwin was kind enough to prepare some coffee along with aiding you both in cups of water, medicine and started to cook breakfast. You were quite distracted in how nice their apartment was, noting a few things again from last night. The glass windows to the patio were huge, the sleek black and white kitchen, the random ferns growing around the house. It felt inviting and modern overall, besides from the clutter left from the party.
“Where do you live (y/n)? Armin told us you’re new in town,” he questioned while the watching the bacon and eggs simmer on the frying pan, his back towards you. You walked over to the sleek black countertop, realizing there was a stood hidden under it, so you pulled one out to sit on it while watching him cook.
“I just arrived in the area about two weeks ago so I haven’t gotten an actual home yet,” you stated.
“There’s plenty of nice apartments around town, you should rent one while you’re saving for a house.”
“Uh..yeah..” You looked to your lap, but didn’t notice Erwin look over his shoulder to see your sullen disposition. He grabbed the coffee pot and three cups, placing once in front of you and the other on two on the counter before filling them all.
“Can you afford it?” You felt chills shoot up your spin as the question came from behind you. There stood Levi in some comfortable sweat pants and a loose v-neck t-shirt, his jet black hair damp from what you guessed was his shower you blocked earlier. He took a seat beside you and picked up one of the cups of coffee. That statement was much bolder than you expected from strangers, not to mention the surprise of his presence. You hadn’t heard him come up at all.
“Um..no.” You laughed nervously, scratching your cheek. “I own my Highlander, so until I could save up, I’ve been living out of my car.”
“That sucks,” Levi hummed softly before taking a sip of his coffee. He sounded a bit sympathetic to be honest. While you were glancing at him, noting his strong jawbone and his round cheekbones, Erwin put down two plates of bacon, eggs and waffles. You had no idea where or when those waffles had been cooking.
“You could live here with us,” Erwin smiled bright, causing Levi to practically choke on his black coffee, starling you overall.
“Huh?!” You and Levi yelped in sync, triggering a hearty laugh from Erwin.
“Levi and I had a roommate move out and haven’t found a good fit to fill it for a couple months now. We do okay on our own financially but not being so strapped would be nice. You seem like you’d be a good fit, you already slept here without any trouble,” he snickered, your cheeks dusting a light pink. His blue orbs glanced over to Levi for his opinion. The raven sighed.
“So long as you keep our common spaces clean. Don’t expect us to pick up after you, brat.” In the end, Levi knew Erwin got his way, but most times his hunches were right. Not to mention, having a bit of extra cash in his wallet without working overtime would be pleasant.
Your eyebrow twitched, “I’m not a ‘brat’, I’m 25,” you bit your tongue to keep from saying anything worse.
“I’m 28, Erwin’s 30. Since we’re older be sure to treat us with the proper respect if you want to live here.” You stuck your tongue out at Levi, another laugh leaving Erwins lungs while Levi shrugged you off. This might not be so bad after all.

“If Not Later, Then in Berlin”
Fic Summary: After five years, Oliver feels the need to see Elio. Not knowing how he will react or what may happen, Oliver takes a leap of faith and travels to Berlin where Elio has been living for the past year.

1988 Berlin
Oliver was finishing his last day of classes at the university in Amsterdam before getting ready to head back to the states, but he couldn’t help but wonder what the Perlman’s were doing and more importantly, was he on the same continent as Elio. Not a day had passed in the last five years that he hadn’t thought of Elio; thought of the summer he fell in love with the professor’s son. He was married now, and he loved his wife, but never a love like he’d had that summer in 1983. He had never felt breathless, or utterly consumed like the way Elio made him feel with his wife, but he was ultimately happy with the friendship they had. He could still hear the ring of Elio’s voice from when he told him that he was engaged. The pain that Elio tried to conceal in his voice, the tears that Oliver held back, hoping Elio wouldn’t hear his staggered breath, wanting to confess his love, but knowing he couldn’t. Knowing that marrying her was the best choice given his family’s state of mind.
His curiosity got the best of him as he reached for the hotel room phone and started dialing the Perlman’s number.
“Ciao” Mr. Perlman’s voice rang on the line as happy and invited as he had remembered it over the years.
“Professor, how are you?”
“Oliver! We’ve missed you!” his voice going higher than his normal register. It took two seconds for Mrs. Perlman to jump on the line. “We thought you’d forgotten about us!” Her voice as sweet and soft as the day he’d first met her.
“How could I forget family?” Oliver replied, so happy to hear both of their voices again. It had been years since their last conversation, although they’d exchanged a few letters over the years.
“How are you? How’s your wife? Any kids for the two of you yet?” Professor had never been one to beat around the bush when it came to Oliver’s personal life.
“Everything is good Pro, everything is good. I’m actually in Amsterdam right now for a conference, thought I would call and catch up. How’s Elio?” Oliver didn’t waste any time getting to the point of his call, although he didn’t realize he was calling just to hear how Elio was.
“Actually you aren’t too far from him now.” Mrs. Perlman chimed in, “He is living up in Berlin, has been for about a year now, ever since he moved back from the states.” Oliver’s heart skipped a beat, realizing he was only an eight hour train ride from Elio. Only 400 miles separated him from his one true love, that he had let slip through his fingers so many years ago.
“Maybe I could go see him. Do you think he would mind?” Oliver asked, hesitantly. “Mind… Oliver, I think he would be very happy to see you.” Professor said his voice softer than before. The Perlmans’ although, they may not have ever said it to his face, knew how much he had cared for their son; how much he still cared for their son.
Oliver talked with the Perlmans’ for a few more minutes, making sure to get the address to Elio’s apartment in Berlin, before saying goodbye. After he hung up the phone, he fell back onto his hotel bed, his heart racing just thinking about the potential of seeing Elio again.
After he regained his composure, Oliver picked up the phone and called to book a train ticket from Amsterdam to Berlin for the next morning. He packed his suitcase so he could leave first thing in the morning and laid down to try and sleep. He knew his mind would be racing, but he wanted to be well rested before seeing Elio.
It had been a long train ride; not because of the length of time, but because Oliver couldn’t wait to see Elio. He made his way to Elio’s apartment doorstep and climbed the stairs to his front door. He knocked a few times with no response. It was only 5pm; maybe Elio had a job and wouldn’t be home until later. Maybe he had plans tonight and wouldn’t be home until late. Oliver had no way of contacting Elio to let him know he was waiting for him and even if he could contact him, Oliver didn’t want to ruin the surprise of Elio finding him at his apartment. He decided to take a seat on the step with his suitcase and wait for Elio to return.
Several hours passed, the temperature got colder and Oliver just waited. He looked both ways down the street, hoping to catch a glimpse of Elio coming home.
Elio had spent the day the day hosting a book signing at the bookstore he’d been working at since he moved to Berlin. He hadn’t really made a decision on what he wanted to do in the literature field since graduating the previous year. The book signing had run late, causing the store to stay open past its normal 7pm closing time. Once the store had cleared out and Elio had finished closing out the register it was almost 8pm. He locked the store door and started the five block walk to his apartment, where he lived alone.
The streets of Berlin were quite for a Thursday night, the air was cool, a gentle breeze hitting Elio’s face as he walked down the street. He walked briskly and turned the last corner before reaching his apartment. He looked up from the street and stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Oliver sitting on his front step. Was he dreaming? It couldn’t be Oliver. They hadn’t seen or even spoken to each other in years. It just couldn’t be him. Elio couldn’t force his feet to move, hoping he was seeing things and Oliver wasn’t really sitting there waiting for him. At that moment he saw Oliver’s face look up at him, the same beautifully blue eyes that had gazed into his so many years before. The breath was sucked from Elio’s lungs as he attempted to regain his ability to walk. Oliver stood up from the stairs and took a few steps toward him. Only ten feet separated them from each other.
“Hi” was the only word Elio could push out.
“Elio.” Oliver’s voice sent a shiver down his spine, the same reaction he’d had five years ago every time they’d been together. “Your parents told me where you were.”
Oliver took a few steps closer to him, quickly closing the distance between them. Elio didn’t move. Oliver took three move steps and was now just inches from Elio.
Elio moved his hand from his side and brushed the hair out of his eyes, revealing his whole face to Oliver. His hair was much longer than it had been during that summer in Crema. It was now down to his chin, a bit of natural curl made it contour to his face. He couldn’t bring himself to look into Oliver’s eyes, but he could hear the deep breath inches from his face as he tucked his hair behind his ear.
“I like it.” Oliver said moving his hand up to touch the hair Elio had just moved. His hand grazed Elio’s cheek causing his body to react, the way it had so many times before. He had the urge to lean into Oliver’s touch; to turn his head and kiss the palm of Oliver’s hand. He resisted and stepped back.
Clearing his throat, he asked “Oliver, what are you doing here?” His voice was shaky, but loud enough for Oliver to hear him. He still couldn’t look into Oliver’s eyes.
“I just…” Oliver’s voice cut out for a moment, “I just wanted to see you.” He did not take another step toward Elio this time. Silence filled the air between them; Elio still looking down, Oliver staring at Elio, willing him to lift his eyes. After what felt like forever, Elio lifted his face to meet Oliver’s gaze. He still couldn’t believe he wasn’t dreaming.
“Do you want to come in?” he muttered, trying to steady his breathing.
“I’d like that very much.” Oliver said, a smile spreading across his face.
Elio stepped around him and walked up the stairs to his front door. His hands were shaking which made unlocking the door a difficult task. He could feel Oliver standing behind him, too close. This only made Elio more nervous. It took a few seconds, but the key finally found the keyhole. Elio turned the key and opened the door. Oliver followed him in, setting his bag on the floor next to the door. He followed Elio into the living room where Elio threw his coat and keys on the chair across the room.
They stood on opposite sides of the room, facing each other. Elio couldn’t help but notice the differences in Oliver; the way he had changed over the years. He had lost weight, not enough that everyone would notice, but Elio knew every inch of Oliver’s body. His hair was shorter too, allowing more of his beautiful face to show from every angle.
Oliver could feel Elio eyeing him nervously “Are you okay?” Oliver asked, breaking the silence in the room.
His question forced Elio to stop staring at every inch of him. He looked up to Oliver’s face, “Me okay.” were the only words he could get out. The same words he had said the first night he and Oliver had made love all those years ago. Elio could tell by Oliver’s reaction that he remembered. Everything.

The Weekend Warrior Home Edition April 10, 2020 – Trolls World Tour, Sea Fever, We Summon the Darkness
Yeah, there isn’t a ton of stuff coming out this week that I’m particularly excited about, but lots of stuff to watch at home.
The world is still reeling with the decision by Universal and DreamWorks Animation to release their animated sequel, TROLLS WORLD TOUR, directly to digital and home download (although it might play in the dozen or so drive-in theaters still open nationwide, presumably). The original movie made $348.9 million nationwide, so it’s an odd decision to release the sequel in a format that almost guarantees piracy and little chance of further international expansion later. It’s also a choice that has annoyed a lot of theater owners who had been expecting for the movie to do well over this coming Easter weekend. I wasn’t considered one of the “chosen ones” that were allowed to see this movie before its release on Friday to review it, so this will probably be all I write about it.
Other limited releases that didn’t get a fair shake in theaters before the rolling nationwide lockdown include Sally Potter’s The Roads Not Taken, starring Javier Bardem and Elle Fanning, will be available digitally this Friday. I wrote a little about it in my last full Weekend Warrior column.
Before we get to the new movies on Digital and On Demand, I just want to mention that this Saturday, April 11, will be the first ever “Film Festival Day” with the participation of 30 film festivals associated with the Film Festival Alliance (including my beloved Oxford Film Festival). They’ll collectively be premiering Gary Lundgren’s Phoenix, Oregon, starring James Le Gros and Jesse Borrego as two friends experiencing their midlife who find an opportunity to reinvent themselves by restoring an old bowling alley and serving “the world’s greatest pizza.” Lundgren’s film was supposed to open on March 20, but a lot of film festivals were cancelled due to Covid-19 and weren’t able to get a proper theatrical showing, so you can buy a ticket to Film Festival Day here, and it will start on Saturday at 12AM Eastern and be available for 48 hours with a special QnA (hosted by Oxford’s executive director, Melanie Addington) on Saturday at 5pm PT/8pm ET.
The movie hitting digital airwaves this Friday I would probably recommend is Neasa Hardimann’s at-sea thriller SEA FEVER (Dust/Gunpowder and Sky), starring Hermione Corfield as Siobhán, a marine biology lab-rat, who has to spend a week on a fishing trawler with a tightly-knit crew, including Connie Nielsen. When something very big attaches itself to their boat, each of them begin to get infected with nowhere to go but the open waters. I generally like claustrophobic creature features like this, with Ridley Scott’s Alien and John Carpenter’s remake of The Thing being two of the best. I might need a few more years before I decide if Hardimann’s film is quite on par, but it’s pretty solid. I definitely like the way things build slowly as you try to figure out what is happening. Sure, there’s a few bits that are a bit too much like homages to those other two films, but Hermione Corfield is a great find, and Hardimann does a fine job with her second feature that really uses the environment quite effectively. I kind of wish I had a chance to see this in theaters but like Saban’s other films, it was always gonna be a VOD special.
There will be a very special live stream premiere of the movie on Thursday night at 5pm Pacific that you can watch for a fee here.
Just two short weeks after his last film Human Capital hit digital, director Marc Meyers is back with his second movie of the year, WE SUMMON THE DARKNESS (Saban Films). This one stars Alexandra Daddario as Alexis, a young woman attending a heavy metal concert with her friends where they meet three guys who they invite to party at the estate of Alexis’ fire-and-brimstone preacher father (Johnny Knoxville). That party quickly turns dark. The movie also stars Keean Johnson, Amy Forsyth and Austin Swift.
I really wanted to like this more, because it was nice seeing Meyers doing something different, and it once again shows how good he is with younger actors -- okay, Daddario is 32 now, so I’m not sure why she’s still playing girls nearly half her age -- but the first thirty minutes feels very by the books in terms of it being a ‘80s movie. Yes, this is Meyers’ third period piece in a row, so he gets to play with lots of fun references, but he didn’t write this script (as he did with the excellent My Friend Dahmer), and it’s such a straight-ahead premise that you can kind of know where it’s going at any time. I guess I just don’t like movies like this where it seems violent for the sake of violence, and you never really like any of the characters much or understand their motivations. I mean, I’ve seen worse, but this is just kind of bleh compared to Sea Fever (and Meyers’ previous work). This movie just wasn’t for me, and the worst part was that the Johnny Knoxville role that seemed so promising? He doesn’t show up for an hour into the movie.
There’s also Sonejuhi Sinha’s Stray Dolls, a mix of cultures (oddly similar in terms of premise as Netflix’s Tigertail – see below) as it follows Geentanjali Thapa’s Riz who arrives in the United States to take a housekeeping job at the Tides Plaza Motel. There, he must contend with Cynthia Nixon’s Una, who hires other people who need help including Oliva DeJonge’s Dallas, Riz’s new roommate. Oh, she’s also the motel’s resident drugdealer. I haven’t watched this yet, so I’ not sure if it’s a comedy or a drama, but it’s another movie available digitally this weekend.
There’s also the documentary, The Mindfulness Movement (Abramorama / Mangurama) from Rob Beemer and exec. produced by Deepak Chopra and my mortal enemy, Jewel. It looks at how the use of “mindfulness” – a type of meditation that makes one focus on the present moment in a non-judgmental way – is the root to creating a happier world. There’s a lot of talk now about using meditation to deal with the stress, pressure and fears that go along with the current pandemic, so this doc couldn’t be better-timed! It will be available to rent via VOD starting Friday.
STREAMING AND CABLE
This week’s Netflix premiere film is TIGERTAIL, the new film from Alan Yang, who some may know from his collaboration with Aziz Ansari on their Netflix show, Master of None. This one stars Hong-Chi Lee as impoverished Taiwanese factory worker, Pin-Jui, who decides to leave his homeland and the woman he loves in the ‘50s to seek opportunities in America. Decades later, the older Pin-Jui (played by Tzi Ma) has been worn down by his work, a loveless arranged marriage and a daughter Angela (Christine Ko) who he can’t connect with. This will debut on Netflix Friday but unfortunately, I’ve been embargoed until then, so nope… not reviewing.
Also on Netflix is the debut of THE MAIN EVENT, the network’s first collaboration with WWE Films, which I couldn’t get a screener quickly enough to include in this column. It stars Seth Carr as 11-year-old Leo Thompson who discovers a magic wrestling mask that gives him super-strenth, which he uses to try to become a WWE Superstar. Directed by Jay Karas (Break Point), it also stars Adam Pally, Ken Marrino and WWE Superstars, Kofi Kingston, The Miz and Sheamus. Should be a fun kids’ movie, but I’m not so sure about The Big Show Show, a new sitcom starring Paul Wight, aka WWE Superstar The Big Show, because it looks pretty stupid. Remember when The Big Show (once known as “The Giant”) was absolutely intimidating? (To be fair, this also seems to be meant for kids.)
Now playing on Amazon Prime is Hanan Harchol’s About a Teacher (Amazon Prime), following the journey of an inner-city high school film teacher (Dov Tiefenbach), who starts the job not realizing what is demanded of him as a teacher. Many of Harchol’s own former students are a part of the cast and crew of this film, which looks at the difficulties of being a teacher in New York City.
I’m super-excited that Sunday is the third season of Killing Eve on BBC America, but I still have to watch all of Season 2… plus most of Season 2 of Westworld… and rewatch Season 4 of Better Call Saul. So yeah, I’m glad there’s lots of stuff to watch, but I still just don’t have the inclination to watch all or any of it.
I guess Amazon Prime premiered the first season of the sci-fi series Tales from the Loop last Friday, and that’s another thing I’m hoping to get to soon.
Next week, more movies not in theaters!
By the way, if you read this week’s column and have read this far down, feel free to drop me some thoughts at Edward dot Douglas at Gmail dot Com or send me a note on Twitter. I love hearing from readers!

Chesca’s Current Status
This weekend was amazing and gave me so much happiness, something I feel like I haven’t been in a long time. You know that the rest of this post is gonna explain why lol
So earlier last week I heard that a friend was selling tickets to the Alex Aiono and William Singe concert that I had been eyeing since like I think December or January, whenever they had released their tour dates. I was debating about it but by the time I decided tickets sold out already. So when I heard about my friend selling her ticket, the whole week I thought about it. I told her I’d tell her by Friday night. The week goes by and I was still debating, I was pretty broke and i knew if I went I would spend a lot of money on like getting there and back, and then food, and subway. What actually made me decide was that after class friday Nat Jose and I went for coffee with our old Don and I mentioned I was debating in going to toronto for this concert and Nat was like, “yo, lets go, i need a getaway and celebrate finishing design.” Plus Nellie was throwing a late bday party for Paul Saturday but I knew that Lisa would be there and that Thavi could potentially be there too. I honestly just didn’t want another repeat of gfx. I wouldn’t have been comfortable and I didn’t want that to translate on a celebration. Plus thinking about being in the same room as those two made me really anxious. I mean I know I didn’t do anything wrong but its the bad vibes and negativity I know those two people have for me that would make me uncomfortable. I mean if you had a choice I think you would choose a weekend in toronto by yourself, going on a few dates and going to see one of you favourite Youtube singers live, over a few hours of not knowing how to act around two people who use to be the closest people in your life who have now come to hate you for who know what reasons?
So yea after a night of drinking and dancing at Phil’s with Nat, Jon, and Jose, which by the way was super fun because of the drunken talks and the company. Nat and I ventured off to Toronto Saturday morning. We went and got Pho in Chinatown, and then went to Eaton’s to shop and pick up some stuff. We ate there and didn’t go to Celene and Abby’s place till around 6pm. Funny story about where we ate for dinner. We went to the like cafeteria type place. I went to the coffee and pastry section since I was still full from Pho. I got an iced latte with a cheesecake. While I was in line, there was a hella rude customer who was on his phone telling the guy behind the counter (who was pretty cute btw) that he wanted more syrup on his waffle. He was also waiting for his drink and when the girl called it out he didn’t think it was his, when it clearly was. When he had left the cute guy behind the counter and another co-worker who I realized were filipino started talking about how rude he was. I listened and laughed cuz I know their struggles too and when the guy gave me my drink i smiled and said Salamat, and he was thrown off by it and he smiled back and I went on my merry way.
Conversation with Nat was pretty good, we go pretty deep into my stuff, just with dating again and how I had been feeling the past few weeks. After that we went back and I redid my make up and taxied to the venue. I thought I was gonna be late but the show didn’t start till 8pm, line just started to move at 7pm. We get into the venue and its just standing so no seats. Its pretty packed and it was cold in there. I was supposed to meet up with my friend Jezeth but she was in the middle and I couldn’t find her so I just chilled where I was. When alex came out I had an amazing view of him, like most of the people there were girls who were with their girl friends or girls with their boyfriends, plus most of the people were asian so they were all shorter then me all I had to do was tippy toe a bit and I could see alex so well! The girls I ended up standing with and eventually befriending were super fun! They were drinking too so their vibes were legit and we danced and fangirled the whole time together!
So let me talk about Alex, this man, omg he was so much cuter in person, his smile 10x warmer and his voice.... like fuck me, lol Like I thought that it wouldn’t sound as good as his videos but honestly he sounded exactly the same, even better live actually. I could listen to this man sing and play guitar for hours! I totally jus vibed out during his set, really took in the moment and just enjoyed being in the same space as him. *sigh* his gf is so lucky! lol
So after Alex it was obviously William and I only knew him from the songs he and Alex collabed together on. I honestly was not prepared, like this man, was sooooo good live, like his falsetto is on point, his covers were amazing! I love his style, his r&b swag and even his original songs... man. He got me feeling feels too. A little bit into his set my phone died and I actually am so glad it did. I really jus experienced the night and really enjoyed myself without worrying about getting things on camera. I just lived in the moment. I was just so happy and loving life. Alex ended up coming back later on and they sang the songs they did together and I almost died, like I felt like I went to heaven lol
After the concert, which ended around 10:30pm I decided to walk back, well partially. I had to find a place that was open where I could charge my phone. So I went the Tims on College and Yonge. Stayed there for a bit and then took the street car to Abby’s place. Decided to get BK cuz i was hungry and then waited for Nat to come back since she went to go and hangout with Jack while I was at the concert. When she got back we talked a bit before we went to bed. I let her sleep on the bed and I took the ground, which wasn’t bad actually.
So we wake up and we originally planned on having brunch with Jack and Bri but Jack was too sick and Bri’s schedule was too busy so we went for lunch with Celene, her man, and Abby. The place we went to was near Koreatown and we ate at this cute restaurant that had the best eggs benedict I’ve every had in my life. I go mine with baby spinach and the home fries was covered in this sauce and like i died! The conversation was good too and it was nice hanging out with friends. It was such a beautiful day too! Like the nicest day of the year so far I think. I mean I didn’t wear a coat and walked around the whole day. after lunch nat and i walked around koreatown, got my favourite fish dessert and just chilled. She had a carpool a 5pm since she was having dinner with her roomies so she went back first. I actually had a date for that afternoon but he cancelled saying he had worked out too hard in the morning and pretty much felt sick. I wasn’t too bummed about it since I still got to hangout with my friends and eat good food. We’ve been having good conversations on facebook and he seemed sad we couldn’t hangout, but its okay things happen for a reason.
When nat left I went for a bbt date with this guy I had been talking too for a week now. He was Korean and was actually pretty nice and sweet. Like physically he was okay but conversation was nice and he spoke english pretty well despite only living in Korea until like 4 months ago. He was super sweet and even walked me to my subway. it was cute date, i’d talk to him again lol
I was supposed to meet up with other friends for dinner but they cancelled last minute because something came up. Another guy I’ve been talking to for a week asked if I was free to grab dinner since he wanted to see me while I was still in town. I said yes of course, and we ended up getting dim sum in Chinatown and it was honestly sooooo good! This guy is filipino and he’s one of the ones I enjoy talking to via text all week so i was excited to meet him. He was actually so much better looking in person and his voice, sounds so nice. Like its deep and he has a filipino accent which I didn’t think i’d like but I totally did. Our conversation was so good and i just felt comfortable with him. after dim sum he offered to subway with me all the way to yonge and sheppard. thats like 30 mins on the subway. My carpool was at 10:30 so we went to the meet up spot and the carpool cancels last minute! At first I was annoyed and furious cuz now I’m stuck here till tmrw morning. But what happened after made up for it.
We subway back to Abby’s place and then we decided that we wanted to walk around for a bit. guys, we ended up walking 3 km together. We went down beverley st. all the way to queen st. down john st., past front st. and all he way down to the harbourfront. We sat by the water for 30 mins, just talking about life, relationships, school, etc. The spontaneous nature of the whole night was something I honestly have never done before. Probably one of the best first dates I’ve had. we ended up walking up spadina from the rogers centre and made a full circle back to Abby’s place. We walked for 3 hrs almost. When we said our goodbyes he hugged me so tight and I was gonna kiss him on the cheek but i ended up giving him a peck on the lips, and then he hugged me again and then this time he kissed me and then just walked away all shy like. It was so cute and like the best way to end my night.
I went to sleep around 2am I think. Woke up at noon, and went and got starbucks with celene and her man. Then took a go train to bramalea and then a bus to kitchener go, then the 8 bus to asian grocery, then walked to campus and made it for the 5pm meeting. We then set up at 6pm for our event, and then EOT was at 7PM-10PM.
So that was my weekend getaway with myself. Honestly I’m so happy I decided to go away, even though now i’m hella broke, it was so worth it. I mean like I finally know what I want to do and what I’m gonna tell my parents my plan is. This weekend gave me motivation to get my shit together and just go after what I want to do and what I want to pursue. I swear I’m meant to live in Toronto and based of the events of this weekend I feel like in my gut its where I’m supposed to be.
I plan on going back in 2 weeks, after I’ve made some money and you know finished school stuff lol

Meet the kids looking to impress Jurgen Klopp in Liverpool’s pre-season
From the Wanda Metropolitano to Prenton Park.
Five and a half weeks after lifting their sixth European Cup , Liverpool start their pre-season on Thursday night in the confines of Tranmere's 16,000-seater stadium.
That night last month Jurgen Klopp started with Mohamed Salah Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in attack, but it will all look very different this time around.
Jurgen Klopp has been getting a good look at Liverpool's young talent in pre- season this week
PRE-SEASON SCHEDULE
July 11 – vs Tranmere Rovers (7.30pm) – Prenton Park, Tranmere
July 14 – vs Bradford City (3pm) – Northern Commercials Stadium, Bradford
July 20 – vs Borussia Dortmund (1am) – Notre Dame Stadium, Indiana
July 21 – vs Seville (11pm) – Fenway Park, Massachusetts
July 25 – Sporting Lisbon (1am) – Yankee Stadium, New York
July 28 – Napoli (5pm) – Murra yfield, Edinburgh
July 31 – vs Lyon (6pm) – Stade de Geneve, Geneva
Aug 4 – vs Manchester City, Community Shield (3pm) – Wembley Stadium, London
Aug 14 – Chelsea, UEFA Super Cup (8pm) – Vodafone Park, Istanbul
With pre-season very much in its infancy there are plenty of players that have the chance to impress Klopp ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.
And with minimal activity in the transfer market expected after a slow start already the German will be looking for youth over the next few weeks.
So who has the chance to take a step towards Klopp's first team squad for the coming season? Sportsmail has had a look at the runners and riders …
Sepp van den Berg
17, defender
Liverpool have just spent £ 4.4million in a summer that has looked very much towards the future. But Dutch Under 19 international Van den Berg may find himself thrust into the limelight sooner than later if talk or him being the next Matthijs de Ligt is anything to go by. Jurgen Klopp has plans to use the center-back in the first team this season and will get a good look at the signing from PEC Zwolle in pre-season.
Defender Sepp van den Berg is Liverpool's only signing of the summer so far from PEC Zwolle
Ki-Jana Hoever
17, defender
Liverpool beat interest from among Europe's elite to snare Ki -Jana Hoever from Ajax last summer and he has swiftly risen through the ranks. The ground training with the first team in December last year and within a month he was impressing on debut against Wolves in the FA Cup with both his reading of the play and ability to take the ball forward. Versatility at covering both right-back and in the center will endear him further to Klopp.
Dutch teenager Ki-Jana Hoever was his senior debut in the FA Cup last season
Nathaniel Phillips
22, defender
A regular in first team training at Melwood, Nat Phillips is yet to make his bow under Jurgen Klopp. Injury ruined the latter half of last season but after impressing on the tour to the United States last summer he will be sure to get another chance.
Center-back Nathaniel Phillips impressed on the pre-season tour to the USA last year
Anderson Arroyo
19, defender
After joining Liverpool in February 2018 , the Colombian youth international has spent much of his time away from Merseyside on loan spells at Mallorca B and Ghent. He has been training at Melwood this pre-season and looks likely to feature at some point.
Anderson Arroyo has joined up with Liverpool for pre-season training at Melwood
Adam Lewis
19, defender
With Alberto Moreno departing on a free transfer, Liverpool have been in the hunt for a left-back to challenge Andy Robertson. But local boy Adam Lewis could save the club millions if he's given the opportunity to provide cover for the Scot. He is a regular for the Under 23s and in February put pen to paper on a new long-term deal.
Local lad Adam Lewis is seen as a potential challenger for Andy Robertson's left-back slot
Curtis Jones
18, midfielder
Another local lad that Liverpool fans are hoping can be the poster boy of the next generation. Jones featured heavily in pre-season last year but found first-team opportunities limited, featuring only once in the FA Cup at Wolves. Klopp has been buoyed by his mobility and dribbling ability, two crucial elements or any midfielder in his side.
Curtis Jones is another local lad that Liverpool supports have placed a lot of hope in
Ovie Ejaria
21, midfielder
After making his senior debut for the club in 2016, Ejaria has struggled to kick on in the subsequent years. Loan spells at Sunderland, Rangers – which was aborted halfway through – and Reading have proved unsuccessful. This pre-season may be his last chance to state his claim for an Anfield future.
Ovie Ejaria has struggled to kick on various loan spells since making his debut in 2016
Ryan Kent
22, midfielder
He turns 23 later this year but the winger has still only played once for Liverpool – back in 2016. Five loan spells have taken him from Freiburg in Germany to the heat of the Old Firm derby at Rangers, but Kent remains a Liverpool player. Whether he remains one by August 9 depends almost entirely on how he performs in these next few weeks.
Ryan Kent has been on loan from Liverpool five times including a spell at Rangers last year
Harry Wilson
22, midfielder
Like Kent, time is running out for Welsh winger Wilson to prove he has a future at Liverpool. He impressed on loan at Derby last season and is expected to be given this pre-season to show his worth. Competition for places is fierce in the three forward areas but the Reds lack options beyond Mane, Salah and Firmino.
Harry Wilson was a leading light in Derby's charge to the Championship play-offs last season
Ben Woodburn
19, forward
Welsh international Woodburn is the youngest goal scorer in Liverpool's history but has barely been given a chance since netting against Leeds in November 2016. Loan spell at Sheffield United last season was cut short and he badly needs game time if he is to fulfill his potential. Pre-season will give him the chance to put himself in the shop window if Liverpool are able to find a club to loan him to.
Ben Woodburn was sent back to Liverpool during a disappointing loan spell at Sheffield United
Paul Glatzel
18, forward
The captain of the Under 18s side and a prolific goalscorer at youth level. Born in Liverpool, Glatzel has dual heritage as both his parents are German and scored the winning penalty in last season's FA Youth Cup final against Manchester City, one of 29 in the campaign altogether. Klopp has already promised him a role this pre-season.
Paul Glatzel captained Liverpool's Under 18s last season and scored 29 times
Bobby Duncan
18, forward
The second half of Liverpool's prolific strike partnership at Under 18 level … and a cousin or club legend Steven Gerrard. Boyhood Liverpool fan and an England Under 18 international, he was snared from Manchester City last summer. Struck 30 times last season and will be given his chance by Klopp this pre-season.
Bobby Duncan – a cousin of Steven Gerrard – score 30 times for the Under 18s last year
Rhian Brewster
19, forward
Still yet to make a professional appearance for Liverpool, but that didn't stop the Under 17 World Cup golden boat winner wearing his Champions League medal to the barbers. After an injury-ravaged 18 months Brewster is expected to be a belated elevation into the Anfield first team this season. With the world-class front three missing the start of pre-season Brewster will be leading the line.
Expectations are high for Rhian Brewster, who is yet to play for Liverpool's first team

HELP I ACCIDENTALLY GOT MY WHOLE OFFICE HIGH
HELP I ACCIDENTALLY GOT MY WHOLE OFFICE HIGH
Hey guys, long time lurker here. I want to preface this by saying it is (unfortunately for me) 100% true.
Seriously you can’t make this stuff up.
So I’m pretty sure I’m going to lose my job lmao. I'm currently house-sitting for a friend of mine, who left last week to go travelling around Europe for 6 weeks. Before he left he made me a huge batch of cookies as a ‘thanks for house-sitting’ gift. I’m not a big sweets person so they’ve been sat in the fridge all week untouched.
On Tuesday night I had an appointment at the oncologist. Long story short I’ve been battling PNET (a rare form of brain cancer) for just over a year now. I recently had a surgery to remove the tumor so Tuesday night I was going to find out if I was officially in remission or not. Thankfully the cancer hasn’t returned but I was told I’d need at least another 6 months of preventative chemotherapy. (Chemo is the worst btw) So that sucked to find out.
I woke up Wednesday morning feeling down about the news from the night before. Just before I was about to leave for work I got a text from a coworker, reminding me that there would be an office potluck that day and not to forget to bring a plate of food.
Crap, I completely forgot.
There was no time to get to the shops. In a hurry, I opened the fridge and low and behold, the huge stack of cookies caught my eye.
You can see where this is going.
I grabbed the cookies and jumped in my car. I got to work and placed them in the communal work fridge for later (the potluck wasn’t until later in the day). Around lunch-time, I started to get hungry. Now, like I said earlier, I’m not a big sweets eater. However, I was still upset about the night before and when I’m depressed I tend to eat everything and anything within a 150 mile radius.
So, like a hunter stalking its’ prey, I opened the work fridge and eyed the plate of chocolate chip cookies. Within moments, I opened the wrapping and ate one.
Yum.
Within moments the cookie was devoured. Then I decided to take another one for the road (back to my desk).
Cue an hour or so later. I’m feeling weird. Like, really weird. I’m finding it increasingly difficult to concentrate on my tasks (I work in a call center) and everything feels slow and bizarre. It’s a strangely familiar feeling.
Eventually my boss calls everyone into the break room for the potluck. We're all stood around the table while the food is spread out in platters. He makes a quick speech to thank us for our hard work over the last month. While I’m stood there, my hands suddenly begin to clam up and my heart starts racing.
Oh God, I think I’m having a panic attack.
Now, I’m the most awkward person in the world so the last thing I want is for people to know I’m having a panic attack. I desperately try to keep my composure and at least try to look normal. It seems to work.
After the longest 30 second speech ever we all head in to grab a plate. I’m convinced food will make me feel better so what do I do? You bet your ass I ate another cookie.
By the end of the break, the rest of the staff had finished off the cookies. We eventually head back to our desks and back to work. I can’t shake how I'm feeling but I soldier through anyway.
One by one, my coworkers dropped like flies. Between 3 and 5pm, half the office had gone home sick. I’d never seen anything like it before. And worst of all, with the amount of time I’ve taken off due to my illness, I couldn’t afford to take any more time and go home. But thankfully, 5pm rolled around soon enough and it was my time to go home.
I got back to my friend’s house and instantly fell asleep. It was about 8pm when I woke up. I was feeling much better than earlier, if not a little groggy. Half an hour later my friend called me from overseas, to ask about how the appointment went. This is how our conversation went:
“Yeah just another six months of chemo then hopefully it’ll be over.”
“Damn, u/teecb1, that sucks. Hey, those cookies should be helpful then.”
“What do you mean?”
“Don’t they say that cannabis is good for cancer?”
It took me a moment.
Oh.
Oh.
OH.
OH NO.
I quickly ended the call and began to pace around the house. It explained so much. My symptoms, the panic attack, my coworkers going home… Yikes. I'm a fairly regular pot smoker, so I assume that's why I didn't feel the effects as severely as some of my coworkers. But still, I had THREE cookies. I'm surprised I wasn't dead haha.
In what seemed like pure coincidence, I received a text from my boss an hour later:
Hi all, for those of us who are well enough to come in tomorrow, there will be a whole office meeting in the main room at 9am.
Yeeeaaah, I’m screwed.
Obviously I’m going to tell my boss what has happened first thing. But yep, I’ve accepted the fact I’m probably going to lose my job over this. Cool cool cool cool cool cool cool
Will update this once I find out. If anyone has any words of advice please feel free to share D:
(Also sorry if this is all over the place it's 3am and I'm so stressed I can't sleep fml)

VOICES INC ONLINE! Recovery from Mental Illness is ‘ always ‘ possible!
Blog created by Barrie Macvicar - Positive about Pain & Mental Health Support Group. (facebook)
The Hopesturn Project
So who is Peter Hawes? Well to me Peter Hawes is a man who came into my life at just the right time. That time was when i was still a service user in February 2012. I met Peter on joining an online support group called
Intervoice - The International hearing Voices Movement.
The reason i had joined this group speaks for itself. Yup ! It’s in the name? Yeah ! That’s right. I was ‘ hearing voices.’ I was hearing lots of voices. Peter was one of the first to answer my call for help when i was in distress then with my experiences. He and a selection of others were instrumental in helping to teach me how to go about managing to facilitate my very own recovery. These guys just threw me some tools and helped to keep pointing me in the right direction. I then i had to get on with the hard work myself. What work? Rebuilding my entire life and mind. I had a lot to do. I guess i kinda became the apprentice of my own existence. I had to start all over again and these guys showed me how,
Peter Hawes, Kevin Healey,(Recovery Network Toronto) Egan Bidois, Mike llm Kruger, Rachel Waddingham, Richard Walkinshaw, Shirley Coffey, Lani Maria E, Paul Baker , Margaret Wylie, Marry Maddock, Earla Dunbar Suzanne Beachy and loads more all came together to offer advice friendship and support. Support that helped me Barrie Macvicar find the strength to both change and rebuild my life.
On meeting Peter i was heavily medicated. On multiple medications & diagnosed Paranoid Schizophrenic. I was in mental health services & was treated in both the hospital setting, as well as in the community. For the last two years of my time in services i was also fortunate enough to have 3 days per week home support.from a charity known as Penumbra.
Thanks to Peter and all the others i am sat here today no longer in mental health services nor hearing voices and no longer in need of support. I was discharged in August of 2013. I now live medication free. I no longer have any active Schizophrenia and i have the doctors letter to prove it. I am just getting on with enjoying living my life as best as i can. Independently. Still using the tools and the knowledge given to me by my crew above to keep myself well. At the same time as having the comfort of knowing they are all still here online at the touch of a button.
Yeah ! There is a lot to be said for online support and the friendships and knowledge that can be gained right here on
SOCIAL MEDIA !
So get yourself started and take a look at Peter’s websites below. Where you can see his work at
VOICES INC ONLINE
you can also watch a film of Peter here doing some of his Glass work and at the bottom of this page you can a look at Peters latest genius creation.
RECOVERY BOX !
Peter is my brother from another mother he’s both a friend and an inspiration and i’m sure once you will see why on reading the remainder of this blog.
Thanks everyone
Barrie Macvicar.
So
What is Hopesturn?
An article by Peter Hawes
Based on a project designed by everyone
So I feel to explain hopes-turn I should give a back history of the realisations that led to hopes-turn. I spent 15 years in the psych system believing one universal truth that was pushed down our throats for years. It was quite simply “you have a mental illness and medication helps so take your meds” This turned out to be untrue for me and multiple others, although I will admit that there is some the bio medical model works well for. I dont meet them often but I have seen the rare few. I then exited that system and became a victim of trauma and then later joined the hearing voices network. The hvn was somewhat productive but when I tried to push other ideas and views I was asked to conform. I couldn’t do it as it involved lying to the people on things I believed to be true. So as it turns out I did basically 15 years in a one size fits all system and then another 3 in a one size fits all system. As if that wasn’t bad enough I started my own organisation voices inc. Which was based on art therapy involving fused glass and my own psychoanalytical/ holistic theories on recovery. Voices inc while being a good project and helping a lot of people didn’t work for everyone. We had a 70% variable success rate of recovery for our attendees. Perhaps that’s cause it was a one size fits all system...... WTF are we all doing us holistic heroes in mental health like seriously there is no one size fits all system. I myself was very opinionated and just didn’t get the whole everyone’s different individuality thing so my thinking at the time was very black and white and I had the belief that this works for everyone cause it works for me and others. I will admit it was a bullshit attitude to have. But I never said I was ever perfect nor that my journey was complete I always said when up on stage that we are all still learning and growing together. Myself included. So I took some time off to learn what I needed to learn and evolve into who I wanted to be. I've spent the better part of the last year learning to listen to people and understand individuality and learning to be a team player and delegate as I felt these were all skills I needed to learn and doing so would make me a better leader and friend and just person in general. Somewhere between listening to people and understanding people me and my awesome bunch of past and present voices inc members came up with an idea. I remember the day well we were all sitting round at my right hand man Michaels place bitching about the system and lack of supports, when Robbie one of my proteges made the comment its a shame we cant get voices inc centres set up everywhere then we could reach everyone. I thought about this and theres no way we could reach everyone thats impossible. So my response was yeah voices inc is awesome robbie but I wish there were more holistic methods coming through so we could cater to the choice and individuality of the consumer. I believe it was tori who made the comment hey if we took out all the holistic therapy and art therapy out of voices inc could the same methods be used to set something else up? I went holy crap that girl has a point. Thus we all became very excited about the possibility of the new project we had devised over a bitching session at the current mental health system. Thus Hopesturn project was born. It is among my favourite projects for the simple truth that it was created not just by me but by multiple members and so has many shades and different perspectives. So now you have the story of how it was born it still doesnt answer wtf is hopes-turn? Hopes turn is a peer run initiative, hopes turn is you, hopes turn is me and hopes turn is anyone who wants to make a difference. Basically its a collective of knowledge and ideas and resources to establish different peer support groups. Hopesturn is brilliantly an anagram for “Helping Other Peers Establish Support Through Unification Recovery Network” There will be many exciting advances and opportunities in hopesturn such as--------- hopesturn radio- where peers can run there own time slot on a radio show about whatever subject they want. The benefits of this are that not only does it keep the peers running the shows motivated to talk or educate on topics they already know about, but it also provides an entirely peer run radio station for people to listen to on a variety of topics. Hopesturn peer support app – The hopes turn app is being designed at the moment and will be a bunch of chat rooms with possible gearing towards a social network theme. So that it is connecting peers with similar lived experience to each other to chat and make connections whatever there framework be it mental illness or trauma based or behaviour based or the aliens implanted a chip in my brain and that’s where my distress comes from :-P either way there’s sure to be a chat room or option to network with peers with similar views. There are also currently being set up a bunch of resources usable by hopes turn members to create and developed there own peer support groups from online conference rooms to learning resources around topics based on networking or finding a venue or even raising funds to keep your group running. The goal of hopesturn is to establish the training and resources to develop more peer run options so if anyone has an idea for a peer support group they can get this up and running. For example lets say there’s a guy called bob. We will for the sake of the argument say bob has bipolar the mental illness and identifies as such because that’s his framework for his experiences and symptoms. (I personally think bipolar actually is biological and has to do with a sensitivity to hormones and instability in environment in child hood where the child has many ups and downs) It does not matter what I think though, cause this is about bob and how bob sees things. Bob has found that dancing helps him with his highs and lows and helps him keep balance in his life. Bob then wonders if this would help other people given how beneficial dancing is for him. Lets also say for the sake of the argument bob is on lithium remembering that bob is in the mental illness framework but bobs not anti psychiatry nor pro psychiatry he just finds lithium helps him (I'm still anti psychiatry and anti meds but pro free choice and I can be anti psychiatry and anti meds cause it works well for me but each to there own) So bob decides to try set up a group called Bipolar Bobs Dancing group. Lets say he decides to run it on a Monday night for 3 hours between 5pm and 8pm. But bob while having a good idea has absolutely no idea on how to get his idea from a hypothetical to a reality as hes never done anything like this before. So bob jumps on hopesturn and finds an article on sourcing products to sell at markets. Bob is also recommended by another member dan who runs a group for depression about crowd funding and finds an article on how to set that up plus get some kick ass exposure for his crowd funding campaign. Bob also finds on hopesturn 3 other members in his local area with bipolar who are interested in helping set up his group. Bob also finds on hopesturn network a mental health worker who works in his local area and will organise a venue. Bob also finds a link to a guy who will design a flier for his group. Bob sets up the crowd funding campaign and maxes out exposure and while the crowd funding campaign is doing its thing raising cash bob gets the flier he had designed canvassed around town and local organisations. Bob uses some of the crowd funding money to run the group for the first month and invests the rest into sellable market products which arrive a week after the group starts and gets an awesome turn out. Member’s who attend bobs group are more then happy to help raise funds by doing markets sell the stock bob has ordered in. Before you know it bobs group has become a social enterprise and begins to grow. Bob then gets some of his best dancers and starts a flash mob in the city to raise awareness for bipolar and gets an article in the paper and segment on the news with contacts he found on hopeturn for media publicity. So you see how this sort of thing can just keep growing when a collective of knowledge and resources and people work together. I've done a lot in mental health and my reputation and accomplishments are re-known and I get a lot of people asking me how I accomplished all that I have in the last six years from the whole public speaking, websites, book and articles and being on tv to setting up 2 mental health organisations. The truth is there’s nothing special about me.. sure I have a high iq and adhd and a bunch of cool people behind me but at the end of the day I'm just like you the only difference is I worked out six or seven years ago that there is nothing we cant do as humans, we are basically geared to evolve and grow on a daily basis so the words can't or impossible are to me just bullshit words for things we haven’t figured out how to do yet. So I never stop I just keep looking for solutions I'm hoping that this project designed by the collective of peers will reach so many and help them figure out how to do things and over time see the possibilities are limitless. I am also hoping that it will provide more peer support options to cater to peoples individuality so that many systems can be developed cause not everything works for everyone and its important to have multiple options and support resources for consumers to access to fullly aid them in there recovery, whatever that looks like to each and everyone. Remember we own our own recovery and its different for all of us. So stay tuned guys cause this is all going off like a match at a gas station in the not too distant future . Me and the team are just finalising some of the projects and then BOOM. I will add some fliers of some of the projects that hopes turn has initiated so far and I have included voices inc because the methods removing the art therapy and holistic therapy are what we used to get the other groups up and running
.

RECOVERY BOX ! The Recovery Box idea was formulated on 27 February 2018 when Peter Hawes and Douglas Holmes met in Point Cook, Victoria to put their ideas down on paper and to start clarifying what was needed to turn the Recovery Box from an idea into a project that would change how information would be made available to Consumer, Carers, Mental Health Professionals and the general public. The original idea was to develop an App that could be incorporated into the product Peter had developed and was already selling successfully online.
The original idea was to develop an App that could be incorporated into the product Peter had developed and was already selling successfully online.
However as the brainstorming continued using GLOSS – OFF, both Peter and Douglas made the decision to rebrand a box with its own firmware and content.
This link will explains GLOSS – OFF https://youtu.be/BDJyhqbsZv0
Peter organised a meeting with Kevin and we agreed to work together to see how we could turn this idea into a product that would revelocision how new people coming into the current Mental Health system would access information that could improves people lifes journey
A small working group of interested people would be asked to participate in a working group to assist with identifying what information would be included under each of the heading in the App:

main points:
- unit test work, dependency issues for the whole day
- meeting with LA team
- 1:1 with mentor
- lunch and working
- meeting with xueyan to assign work
- start new PR for iOS minor changes
- dependency issue all afternoon, pinging people for help
- finally got dependency issue resolved
- finally got the unit test to work
- breakdance session
- eat dinner at the office watching the office
- chill at home watching megalobox and melee
today i:
- woke up at 8:20am ish. snooze until like 8:45am
- uber with damien to work. they had smoked salmon today yumm. i got a sausage patty, eggs + salmon, broccoli (?) and grapes. great breakfast start to the week
- went to my desk and messaged matias about how to expect a promise for the unit test. realizing that it would resolve on its own, the next task was checking how to get a reference to the dialog that pops up
- went to a meeting with the LA team at 10:30-11am. they wanted to clarify some stuff on our design doc since we didn’t get a chance to last week
- worked a bit more, asking tim if he knew how to get a reference to the dialog/joining a larger iOS group chat
- had a 1:1 at 11:30am. it was very brief cause my mentor and i had been meeting all of last week, so we were pretty in sync
- grabbed lunch and brought it back to my desk. ate it and realized that i couldn’t even run my unit test attempt cause of dependency issues. i was surprised why there would be any cause the unit test dependencies should be using the same ones as the actual file...
continued working on this issue until around 2pm. still seemed to be having issues but met up with xueyan
- we discussed briefly what we have left to do. it’s the new thing that my mentor introduced last week, and the cancel and row items. so basically the logic of the UI components
- went back to the dependency issue. got a bit tired of being stuck on this PR for so long so went to another iOS PR that needed to be done. i needed to expand some existing endpoints to support optimistic behavior for our project
- went back to the dependency issue and pinged jesse, then max, since they were both on the framework team. i didn’t wanna keep bothering matias :o
they gave me some suggestions but it didn’t solve my issue (which was something about visibility)
decided to go ask matias in person what the issue is and he suggested that the fix is in the build file (which i had previously checked). i didn’t wanna keep bothering him so i went back to my desk, a little stumped
then i found another place where i could specify the dependency and i thought i gave it a try this morning but it was with the wrong file format. i tried it again with updated format and then finally, the dependency issues were gone
spent another hour and a half tweaking the unit test to finally get it working as expected, and then i was done!! finally after a week of dependency issues, this PR should hopefully be done (after reviewing comments tomorrow)
- pushed my PR up, and went downstairs with john to grab take out
- got changed and went down to the studio to breakdance session from like 7:20-8pm. i didn’t get to go to class today at 4-5pm cause i wasn’t sure how long the dependency issue would take. i practiced some four step, flow thingy with the legs, cricket freeze, kickouts and backspin on my left side (since i can do it on my right side)
- came back upstairs and ate my dinner take out and watched another episode of the office on my phone. my mentor was still around so i went and said good bye to him. noticed that ellen was still around so swung by her desk and she also decided to head out (it was like 8:30 by then)
- called an uber and got back around 9pm. watched another episode of megalo box, S1E6. it was so good. i teared up a bit during the episode. this show is so good omg
- watched some melee gameplay and chatting with jwoos on messenger, then went to take a shower. jwoos and i had a good conversation on messenger :D
- decided to get a ticket for soulstice this weekend. gonna hopefully split it with david or just get a 1 day saturday pass.
- now it’s 12:57am. time 2 sleep
i feel happy now that i’m unblocked and finally able to work on the project with xueyan. i’ve been playing catch up this entire time cause i started a little later than she did, but i’ve also been blocked by issues that took me way longer than expected. i’m excited to get going this week and get done with a basic version of our project!!
okay good night

In the name of world peace, we shall conquer on Steam!
If you’re an all-ages visual novel fan who is invested in the Steam ecosystem, then get ready for one of my most anticipated titles: Eiyu*Senki – The World Conquest.
Originally released in the West back in 2015 on the PS3 under the title Eiyuu Senki – The World Conquest, this awesome title won the hearts of many here at Operation Rainfall. But if this was released in the West two years ago, why is only now coming to Steam? Well, there is a good reason for that.
While localizing the 18+ content is one of the main reasons for releasing this title on PC, Eiyu*Senki also had its translation touched up.
JAST USA has worked to not only retranslate the game but also localized the eroge scenes that were in the original PC release. That said, obviously, the Steam version doesn’t have those scenes. However, JAST USA still wanted to release an all-ages version of the game for those who aren’t as fond of 18+ content. And that’s perfectly understandable, eroge isn’t for everyone after all.
As for the game itself, it’s a story of world conquest. Starting from the tiny nation of Zipang, you’ll set out to conquer everything in the name of world peace! Trust me, it makes sense in context.
Probably one of my favorite images in the game. You just have to love how badass Alexander the Great looks
One of the key selling points is that all of the characters are based on historical figures. So for example in Zipang (basically Japan) you can recruit Oda Nobunaga, while in America you’ll meet up with Christopher Columbus and Billy the Kid. Heading to the EU? Get ready to throw down with Ceasar, Napoleon, and Hannibal. It makes for quite an entertaining adventure.
Eiyu*Senki – The World Conquest is available right now on Steam. While normally $29.99 until November 17th it’s 20% off which means you can begin your quest for peace for only $23.99.
Even if the 18+ material isn’t your thing, there’s plenty of fanservice and gorgeous character designs. Case in point, meet Gaius Julius Caesar. Yes, she is as beautiful as she is rich.
If you’d like some more in-depth information please consider checking out this article I did about the 18+ release. No worries, there’s no NSFW images there, just be careful about the links.
(18+) Get Ready To Conquer The World Again With Eiyu*Senki On PC
Finally, for fans of the 18+ version who want a Steam restoration patch, JAST USA is in talks with the developer according to the comments on this page. (NSFW Warning due to Goemon in the bath). I’ve also included a screenshot below:
Hey, at least they’re being open about this. Let’s hope that Tenco and JAST USA can get a patch made in the near future.
We’ll have to wait and see, but hopefully, Tenco is able to help make this happen. In the meantime, remember that you can purchase the 18+ version of Eiyu*Senki – The World Conquest digitally on JAST USA’s website or in physical form on JLIST. Please see the 18+ article for those links.
Be sure to check out the press release, trailer, and gallery below as well!
Happy conquering everyone!
Eiyu*Senki Releases on Steam Today
Eiyu*Senki will be made available at 5pm PST / 8pm EST / 1am GMT
GAME SUMMARY
Eiyu*Senki is a hybrid game that merges the storytelling depth of visual novels with the gameplay of a tactical sim. Your goal is to conquer the world in the name of peace, and along the way you’ll be able to recruit over 70 historical figures as allies, such as Marco Polo, King Arthur, Rasputin, Aristotle, all genderbent as cute girls.
Eiyu*Senki was previously released on the PS3 under the name Eiyuu Senki but suffered from translation issues and cut content, deemed too mature for the platform. This new release of Eiyu*Senki is spiritually the “Director’s Cut” of the game, providing an experience closer to the original Japanese release with an improved translation, some restored mature content and reduced price. A completely uncut and uncensored version is also available directly from the JAST USA store.
STORY
Set in a world run by powerful nations where heroes battle one another for control, Britannia wishes to unite the world through peace, while the European Union has taken an aggressive stance. The seafaring nation of Vinland thrives on pillaging and plundering, while far to the East, the island country of Zipang is faced with civil war. In the midst of all this Himiko, a ruler in Zipang, seeks to unite the world for the sake of peace. Her ambitions are high but so far she has only seen defeat. One day, while retreating from battle, a mysterious hero falls from the sky and joins Himiko’s cause. The two now set their sights on the war burning around them.
GAMEPLAY
Eiyu*Senki takes you on an adventure to the ends of the earth and back as you help Himiko save the world from an endless war. You’ll meet unique characters inspired from real historical figures and mythological icons, like King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, Marco Polo, Christopher Columbus, Rasputin, Kamehameha of Hawaii, Beethoven and many more. There are over 70 characters who can join your side, each with their own valuable battle skills and side-quest storylines. Your battle party can have up to six members, so you have literally millions of possibilities to form your “dream team” to take down monsters, zombies, dragons, and evil villains. The tactics based combat starts out simple and grows in difficulty as new enemies and abilities are unlocked, making the gameplay easy to learn yet increasingly challenging and addictive.
The leveling system is unique among RPGs, with two ways to level-up your characters’ combat effectiveness: their troops, and their relationship with you. Purchase additional troops for your teammates every turn, increasing their damage output and stamina, or complete side quests and romance storylines to unlock new combat skills and abilities. If you are a completionist then it will take 40 to 50 hours to experience all the characters side stories. It’s a massive game that is super fun to play!

What could go wrong went wrong
I really don’t know where I should start; I decided that I was going to start to log my experiences trying to reconnect with my wife. It turned sour and has transformed into me logging my wife slowly leaving. And at this point I really can’t say that she is slowly leaving me, because the more I dig into the lie the more I learn the speed she is heading, and holy crap nuggets it’s fast. My normal medium of expression is through visual art, but it would be hard for me express all these emotions I have right now. I am currently stuck in a haze of anger, sadness, fear, betrayal and absolute heartbreak not knowing which way is up or down. One reason I wanted to write this, is I have no one to talk to. I know some people here but it’s all her people, her family, her friends and I’m extremely lonely. We recently moved to Michigan to be closer to her family leaving everything I’ve known for the past 27yrs, the town I grew up in, and friends I made in middle school through college and into my adult life. I was ok with moving because I love her so much. I figured if we moved to her hometown maybe, just maybe, that would make her happy again, which I hoped would make me happy again. I still remember the first time she walked through the door of the restaurant I bartended at, she was beautiful and still is. It was great, late nights kicking back brews, talking till the sun came up. There was never enough time. It was new and fun and we always touched and laughed. She had only one child at the time and I came to love that girl as if my own. We began building family from miracles, one after another till we had three fantastic kids. I wish I could say that it’s always been perfect, it hasn’t, and she’s as mean as a rabid junkyard dog sometimes. Three great kids, the best job I’ve ever had, and a new life in an unknown world for me, it started out good. We’ve been in Michigan now for just under two years and I guess being home has finally gotten to her. We haven’t been on a date since we moved here; I haven’t been intimate with my wife in years at this point. Recently she has been going out with her friends quite frequently, and posting some pretty inappropriate behavior and then removing them after she thinks about it a little. She used to rag on my sister-in-law for doing that kind of stuff before we found out she was cheating on my brother. Over the past few months she’s just been acting odd, and we have always had the passwords for everything out in the open, no secrets and nothing to hide. I’ve always been fine with that cause she has always been my world. But my world crashed down on me last Tuesday. Now I guess it’s time to get us to that day. But we will start before her trip to meet her brother for the first time in 30+ years. We have been saving and taking loans to help her get to her brothers retirement party for a while now, we even sacrificed cable and Wi-Fi. No problem, it was for a good cause. She was running around the night before she left in a pretty good mood, constantly messaging a “Friend” of hers that works at the airport. Ignoring me and the children, so caught up in her messaging, she didn’t realize the smiles and lip bites she gave her phone that I happened to notice. I tried to get on her messenger and surprise, she changed her password. I wasn’t going to kick to much a fuss just before she was set to leave, so I asked her for it, and she gave it to me. I didn’t even try to look in it, just kept it in for later. Maybe go in and write a huge post of how much I miss my husband, or some funny meme she would laugh at. That’s what most of our “hacks” consisted of. So the next morning I drop her off at the airport 2hrs away at 6am, so getting up that early was hell. Drop her off, go home with the kids and cook breakfast. I try to text and call her a few times and no response, hmm odd, I noticed she’s all over Facebook but won’t answer calls or texts. I figured I would try her messenger, well damn, password changed again! So that’s just straight messed up at this point. I still try not to kick a huge fuss (she would have my rear if I did this by the way) but I was pissed and texted her asking why she changed it and what her new password was…… the kids and I didn’t talk to her for 5 days! I had children crying on my lap asking why mommy won’t answer the phone or call us back. I have no way to answer that; I wish I did at that point. I did leave her alone for the first couple of days until it hit a disrespectful wall of “she is straight ignoring me and our children” I started the calls on day 3. No answer except one, she was going into a restaurant at 9am, she said she would call us back and nothing for two more days. The day she was headed to the airport I still hadn’t talked to her and had no clue what time she was coming in. I knew there were two flights into the airport from Missouri. 5pm and 8pm, I was ready to show up and hang till she got there. She finally calls me on her way to the airport to tell me her girlfriend Rachel was picking her up. A slight relief to not have to sit in Detroit traffic any longer than I have too, but I was mad as hell but still happy she was coming home. When she got in she refused to hug or kiss me and then proceeded to tell me how tired she was and she went to bed. I stayed up with the kids even though I had to work the next morning, I had told them I would likely be late seeing as though I figured she would be home late we would talk and hang for a bit. The next morning I got up, got the kids situated, and went up to say by to the wife and let her know the kids were wide awake and destroying the house. Her phone had just stopped ringing and I picked it up and she had changed her passcode for her phone….. that has been the same 4 digit pin for as long as I can remember, the bigger kids could get in and play games if they wanted, but something has changed. She shoots out of a dead sleep with the look of sheer terror and fear on her face, snatched the phone out of my hands. I at that moment knew my wife was headed out the house with one foot out the door. I asked for her password and her reply was “I would rather a divorce!” so I knew there was something she was hiding. Nobody goes through that much security and password changes unless you are hiding something, right? I had to go to work because I already took three of my five vacation days so she could go and I didn’t have any money. Work was rough, could not stop thinking about what could be in there, but whatever it was it is likely to destroy my marriage. Took me a few days to get a battle plan and figure out what I needed to do. Every time I would ask about that she would say that she was tired of being controlled, which is hilarious cause I am so laid back its not even funny and she has control issues. What was on that damn phone? I was on a mission at that point, I would figure out what is going on.so I chilled and let her go do her thing and get marriage advise from a woman who sleeps with married guys. I finally got smart and started going through phone call and text logs, everything was normal except one number. She has a small group she deals with, so it was easy to figure out who is who. I knew a majority of the numbers because I have them too, except the one that starts at 7:34AM the morning I dropped her off at the airport and continued from March 30th to April 5th when there seemed to be a break. I had a feeling based on it being a Detroit number, I knew who it was. Do I think she cheated on me? No, but when you start hiding things from your husband you say you love, it definitely becomes shady. I truly think it started out innocent and somethings must have been traded that made her feel the need to hide it all and become extremely defensive if any of it was brought up. I hadn’t mentioned too much about it, I figured I would wait and see what happens. I asked who was the dude she talked to, and I always got a “There is NO FUCKING DUDE!” so I sat back and waited. On April 10th right after I made dinner and fed my family she sat on the couch and was just texting away, I requested the text log and found that she had been sitting on our couch texting him again. Which I can say he at this point, because I called the number blocked and a guys with a super deep voice answered. I can’t lie, I kind of lost my mind and asked who she was talking to? She tells me it was her girlfriend, but I see the log and the log don’t lie. I yell about her lying to me and she gets mad when I call him again and leave a voice mail. she denied it for a couple days until I found his name attached to the number, and I was right on who it was, and texted her a screen shot of it all. She isn’t the type to sit and talk so as of me writing this she is mad at me for looking up the call and text logs. She’s embarrassed I would think, but her being backed into a lie brings the claws out. There is so much more that I will be getting off my chest so ……… any feedback will be taken graciously. #wife #husband #losingher #love #hurt #shewantstobesingle #goodman #help #advice

Jet-setting February 2013
February 2013,
It’s a lifetime experience that I will never forget.
My trip started at the end of January, 30th. I went to Xiamen, China for Syafiq’s Graduation. I have never been to China and it’s a very different experience.
One of the different thing would be; as soon as the plane landed on the ground, everyone unbuckle their belts and already trying to take their luggage from the overhead compartment. I was a bit mind-fuck because the stewardess had to use her back to hold the passenger and told them to get back to their seat.
Other than the language and the things that I expect.
I thought most of them could at least speak simple basic english but they don’t. they don’t even understand my sign language. In which made me regret for not finishing my Mandarin class and I realized that I suck at sign language. I can’t even tell the sales person where do I look for a towel.
I also expect for them to have small squinty eyes but no, their eyes were as huge and round as mine.
They drive on the left side of the car and they don’t have road rules. They just avoid whatever comes their way, so I guess the drivers are quite alert and you just got to be careful as to not get hit.
That Chinese food are just awesome because it’s halal so I can eat it. I don’t remember the name of the place but TAECO brought all of us there for the graduation dinner with everyone that was involve with the ceremony.
Things like Zara, Pull&bear, Bershka and so on is damn cheaper compare to the ones in Malaysia and there’s more variety too. So, I think shopping in Xiamen is better if you don’t think about the language barrier but if you speak Mandarin then, there’s nothing to stop you from going.
I went to Gulangyu Island. It’s a huge island that I didn’t get to discover all around but there were so many souvenir shop throughout the island. Most of them sell the same thing at the same price.
I expect myself to be back and to explore the island smartly the next time.
On the 5th Feb, my parents and I flew back to K.L but I only transit in K.L to get on my flight to London. Other than going back to Perth alone, flying to London would be my first trip overseas alone. Then again, there was a friend of mine waiting for me at the airport.
I was exhausted when I arrived on the 6th February, but when I saw my friend (abang) from afar, I was happy! and I got too nervous, I ran to the toilet and vomit. I stayed in London for a couple of hours, to sleep and waited for my friend to get his visa to the States. After lunch with his cousin, we hung out for a little while before heading to Portsmouth about 4.30pm.
We headed to Paddington train station, with the thought that the line would connect us to Portsmouth but we were wrong, we actually hadto go to Waterloo station to get to Portsmouth and it was during peak hours to Waterloo station using the underground line. It was an amazing experience but I was exhausted but I was trying hard not to be.
It was probably about 5pm when we reached Waterloo station and the train departed for about 6pm. At least I get to sit down for about 2 hours, talking to Abang along the way was quite hilarious too and sometimes I wonder why the hell am I here but at the same time, it was relaxing because it felt easy. Now, I don’t even think we could talk for more than 1 minute.
Before I left, I wanted to eat everything there is in the U.K. but when I was there, I don’t even know what happened to my appetite but I didn’t eat anything much. I know I had the dessert at Wharf Quay, and it was delicious.
In Portsmouth, we stayed over at Meera’s house and she actually waited for us since afternoon. We followed her to rehearsal, it was quite nice actually and to watch her dor the real event but I didn’t get to. We had Ken’s Fried Chicken for dinner, it was too salty and the trick of Towards the end of the day, I don’t really care about anything anymore. All I want to do was sleep for hours and hours and hours.
The next day, we went to town or city center and I sat at the fountain thinking about nothing and how exhausted I still am but I tried not to let it get to me because it was supposed to be a trip of exploring parts of England! While I was there, I learned to play pool too and I don’t think I like it because I actually don’t like the fact that my boobs touches the pool table every time I leaned over to take a shot. Haihs.
I spent two night in Portsmouth and the last day, we had lunch with Meera’s friend named Jon at a Seafood place. It was nice! and there was a bit of sightseeing of the ocean. I was damn cold. I do not want to be in Europe for winter again. I highly dislike it besides I love to hibernate during winter.
Anyways, we took the train and went to London. I got even more tired when we reached London. I honestly don’t know why I made this kind of trip. At first it was for this crazy life experience that I’ve always wanted to know how it’ll feel like. How does it feel to fly over from one continent to another. Well, I really did get what I wanted and it’s damn exhausting.
London was nice, we took a taxi from Waterloo Station to the hotel and I get to do a bit of sightseeing along the way. The hotel we stayed was 5 minutes from the Paddington Station and I was amazed that everything was actually so near. We walked everywhere and we had Noodle Oodle for dinner, it was delicious! I like the roasted duck. yums! I found my favourite place…. BOOTS! haha. Then, we walked to the hotel after dinner.
The next day, we went to British Museum and it was huge! I didn’t get to cover the whole area but that’s just another reason for me to go again the next time. There’s a list of things that I am going to do the next time. After the museum, we walked to Oxford street and Abang stopped to asked a lady for direction but Primark was just opposite the street. I wanted to laugh so bad that time but I was tired. hahaha. But somehow towards the end of the day, I turned moody and I was in no mood to talk to anyone. I realized that it made things awkward but I was too tired to care. I really am sorry for my behavior and I shouldn’t do that to people. Especially Nisya and Pedot because they took a couple of hours bus ride to get to London.
The last day in London, the only thing plan was check out and move to another hotel and the Chinese New Year Fireworks at Trafalgar Square. It was freezing! and the stupidest thing I did was to wear three layer of clothes and I didn’t wear my thermal wear. I guess now I know how the homeless feels, frozen to death. My jacket was wet because I wore the wrong one and I was stupid enough to not buy a new one when I was at Oxford Street.
The fireworks didn’t go long as expected and I guess because of the rain. It was devastating and I pity Jon because he was excited about it too, I guess he should come to Kuching for Chinese New Year. The fireworks would be more awesome! but just suffer the consequences of the haze after!
Well, after the firework, we did a bit of speed touring like walked to get to the train station which passed by the London Eye, Big Ben and The Parliament *The Parliament house is where we can talk* I did took a few photos but I don’t have it with me right now and I don’t know when will I ever have it. Maybe just maybe, I am not going to have it and I’ll go to London to re-write this trip. By that time, I’ll post an even awesome trip.
After dinner, there was a bit of snow and I was soaking for my jacket is useless. I wanted to experience the snow so much and when I get it, I don’t like it! not even one bit! We sent Pedot to the Bus Station because she could only stay for a night. But I’m thankful for her to visit me even it was for a night and I was being a moody bitch. I am so very sorry dot. Nisya stayed for another night and the three of us slept together and when she sleeps its kinda cute because she hides under the blanket.
Oh the second hotel overlooked the Hyde Park and I wanted to walked around there but with the weather being too cold for me to handle I would rather stay in bed or indoors but I didn’t do that much either. Oh, I fell in the tub and I called it Hyde Park!
The morning that I left, I was sad because I wanted so much to stay and really enjoy my trip, discover more places and eat all those desserts. It was such a rush trip and all I could feel was my exhaustion.
I arrived K.L on the 12th February morning and had teatime with Niessa at Bimmers, eating rojak ayam. Man! food never taste delicious as I didn’t eat the whole flight from London – Kul – Kch. My flight leaves to Kch at 8pm of the same day and I am so glad that I get to nap.
I slept through the entire flight from Kul – Perth. I arrived in Perth on 13th February at 5am and was glad that Nora pick me up. I stayed over Nora’s house for a couple of days, then to Deska’s and then to Waterford. I slept through the first 3 days that I was there. So there’s nothing much that I did there but to meet up with my movie partner, Denah, Dayah and Jas. I met up with Jas in London and we both met up in Perth too. At least I get to eat the few things that I’ve been wanting to eat for the past 2 years.
Did a bit of cleaning at Waterford with Azri and it was kind of funny as a bug flew up my nose when I was cleaning the pantry.
I did a bit of shopping at Carousel, Harbor Town and City but I didn’t get to do anything else.
I was also in town for Fringe World Event. It was nice. Nora and I walked through Northbridge to take a look around, passing by Metros made me miss those days when everything was fun.
I left Perth on the 18th february 2013 and I was sad to be leaving Perth. It was home, it was a place where I sort of grew up. Well, I was raised and grew up in Kuching but a place where I explore life was in Perth and it’ll always be home.
To sum up the trip, it was awesome! I went from Asia to Europe to Australiasia. It was pretty damn exhausting but some time in the future, I’ll probably tell someone to never travel like how I did in February 2013. You could at least spent 1 week plus in one place and really enjoy the place, the people and explore!
